Onyx
Meet Onyx, our absolutely gorgeous young Cane Corso who was found as a stray. Sadly, no one has come looking for her, so now we're hoping we can find this big, beautiful girl the family she deserves.
Onyx is estimated to be around 2 years old and about 70 pounds of pure Cane Corso gorgeousness. She may look big and intimidating, but underneath all of that muscle is a sweet girl who is still trying to figure out exactly what happened and why she ended up here.
She has been a little unsure at the shelter, which is completely understandable, but she is settling in more every day. She is gentle, she wants attention, she wants to play, and we're starting to see more and more of that goofy young-girl personality come out.
We have not officially dog tested Onyx yet, but so far she doesn't seem bothered by the dogs around her. She has not been cat tested either. Because she's a big girl who can get a little excited and jumpy when she's happy, we're asking for older, respectful children. She certainly doesn't mean to knock anyone over—she just has about 70 pounds behind her enthusiasm.
And while that squishy face may make you fall in love instantly, Cane Corsos are a powerful, intelligent guardian breed and need a responsible adopter. We would love someone who understands the breed—or is willing to put in the time for training, structure, socialization, exercise, and everything that comes along with helping a young Corso become the very best girl she can be.
In the right hands, these dogs are incredibly loyal and devoted to their families.
Onyx didn't choose to become a stray. She didn't choose to end up behind a kennel door. But hopefully we can help choose what comes next for her... a family.
