Sharla was rescued from a hoarding situation in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, but has been healing and decompressing since then in our Sanctuary.

Sharla is a reserved little lady who has been slowly learning to trust. She had a very rough start - we rescued her from a terrible hoarding situation in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, where she was neglected in a home with 20 other dogs. As a result, she is shy and fearful around new people and dogs, and gets spooked by big noises. She would do best in a home outside the city with a dog-savvy owner who can give Sharla the space and patience she needs to become comfortable as she adapts to her new surroundings. Her perfect owner will be prepared to let her to come to them when she is ready, and not take it personally if she's very independent at first as she learns to trust.

If you prefer to work with the slightly older, more sensitive pups with difficult pasts, we think Sharla would be perfect for you - we are confident that with effort and patience, she will eventually give you all her love. We just need someone to take a chance on this special senior girl!
