Jellies A186626
50 lb. spayed female, approx 2 years old
-This young girl is as gentle and sweet as they come. She walks beautifully on leash without pulling and is incredibly easy to handle.
-The busy shelter environment was a little overwhelming for her. Outside, she was nervous and preferred to keep some distance, especially with the traffic noise coming from the nearby corner. We didn't stay out long because it was clear she was much more comfortable somewhere quiet.
-Once we got inside, she immediately showed me what she really wanted--a safe place to snuggle. She army-crawled right into my lap and spent a good amount of time soaking up pets and reassurance. She wasn't interested in eating treats, although she would politely take them and then decide they weren't quite what she needed at the moment. She may know "sit," and she isn't showing much interest in toys right now.
-What she does love is affection. She gives sweet little kisses and clearly finds comfort in being close to her person. After plenty of snuggles and gentle encouragement, she became brave enough to venture away from my lap and slowly explore the room on her own. That may sound like a small thing, but for this nervous girl, it was a big step. 🥹
-Right now, she is calm, gentle, and looking for someone who can give her the time, patience, and reassurance she needs to come out of her shell. A foster home would be wonderful for her--a quiet place where she can decompress, feel safe, and learn that she has nothing to be afraid of. I have a feeling there's a very special little girl waiting to blossom once she knows she's home.
-Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros

*Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in.
*There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption.
*To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering.
**And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.**
