JOEY - FOSTERED! - Labrador Retriever and Staffordshire Bull Terrier Dog for Adoption in Langley Township, British Columbia

Helloooo!! My name is Joey (or José Antonio in Mexico!) and here's my story:

Breed: Lab x Staffordshire Terrier mix (just a guess really!)
Age: 8.5 months approx.
Gender: Male
Weight: 48.5lbs (22 kg)
Current Location: Guadalajara Mexico


RESCUE STORY - Unfortunately the beginning of my life started with some sad conditions however I now have a chance to turn my story around! It all began when my rescuer visited a large garbage dump outside of Guadalajara to search for abandoned pups (as they are known to be left there). Well I happened to be one of those cases. I was teeny tiny, helpless and newborn, left to fend for myself in the trash. I was even so young that I still needed to be bottle-fed! I had clearly been 'discarded' shortly after my birth and wouldn't have lasted long by myself at all. Despite this heartbreaking start, I was in otherwise good physical condition so my rescuer was able to take me home and begin the dedicated process of raising me. She became my surrogate mama, feeding me every three hours, watching me grow and take my first steps and guiding me through puppyhood! She proudly watched as I grew into the playful, affectionate, and very loving pup that I am today. On September 17th I was chosen to be fostered and to try living a whole new life in Canada! I am now waiting for a flight angel to bring me to my foster home in Vancouver.

TEMPERAMENT - Overall, I am a chill doggy with a moderate energy level (especially impressive since I'm just a puppy!). I am mostly motivated by affection and I thrive when I am receiving love from hoomans. My favourite time of day is when my rescuer comes home and greets me. She says that at home I am playful, calm, obedient, and I love to sleep! I'm a simple pup, my favourite toys are water jug caps, balls, and plastic bottles and I'm most happy when I'm spending time with peoples and am being included in daily life.

ENERGY LEVEL - Moderate

GETS ALONG WITH:


Kids – Unknown
Dogs – Yep!! I get along just fine with other dogs and am currently living with several other pups.
Cats – Unknown


PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I'm not too sure how I'll react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.

TRAINING:


Leash skills – My rescuers say I am pretty good with this however I may need some additional patience and training.
House trained – My rescuer says I am doing well with this but I may need some additional training and patience.
Crate trained – Not yet, I will need some additional training and patience.
Car rides – I do pretty well in the car but still may need some additional training and patience.

HEALTH NOTES:


I am neutered and vaccinated.
NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.


ADOPTION FEE:


My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD including tax ($750.00 plus 5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.
