DESCRIPTION

Hello! My name is Sarita and here is some info about me:

PHYSICAL INFO:

Breed: Australian Kelpie mix
Age: 2 years approx
Gender: Female
Weight: 39.68 lbs (18 kg)
Current Location: Guadalajara, Mexico

RESCUE STORY - I was rescued from a shelter that was in terrible condition and severely overcrowded, with over 200 dogs under the care of an elderly man who wouldn't accept help. Sadly, he passed away, leaving the dogs alone, but that allowed several rescuers to step in and save us! While still at the shelter, I went into heat, so I was immediately taken and spayed. I was covered in fleas and tested positive for Ehrlichia. But I thank my lucky stars for my rescuers because I have now recovered physically and emotionally!

TEMPERAMENT - I'm a bit shy at first but since being rescued, I have learned to warm up and trust that I am okay! I really enjoy playing with both dogs and people! I am friendly but shy at first, then very sociable once I know I am safe. I can bark here and there when I am playing! At my foster house, I enjoy lounging on the couch and being in the yard with the other dogs. I also love toys - especially squeaky toys or ones that make sounds! Here I am getting scratches!

ENERGY LEVEL – Moderate

GETS ALONG WITH:

Kids – Unknown
Dogs – Yes!
Cats –Unknown

PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I'm not too sure how I'll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.

TRAINING:

Leash skills – My foster says I have been very good on the leash so far! I will need an adopter who is happy to work with me on my leash manners. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success!
Crate Trained – Yes but some work may still need to be done on this when I come to Canada and go through such a big change!
House trained – Currently trained to go in the yard however some work may still need to be done on this when I come to Canada and go through such a big change! Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :)
Car ride – I am said to be calm in the car, although it is not my favourite thing.

Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.

HEALTH NOTES:

I am spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.
Vaccines: DHPP (core multi-vaccine), rabies, and Bordetella
Tests: Hemoparasites
Dewormers: Yes
Prevention against fleas/ticks & Heartworm Prevention: NexGard
Dental check-up/cleaning: No
Injuries/X-rays/Surgeries: None
I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying to Canada.

NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.

ADOPTION FEE:

My adoption fee is $840 (750.00 CAD + applicable taxes) which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.
