WILSON - Belgian Shepherd Sheepdog Dog for Adoption in Langley Township, British Columbia

Hola amigos!! My name is Wilson (or Willy in Mexico!) and here's my story:

Breed: Belgian Shepherd mix
Age: 7.5 months approx.
Gender: Male
Weight: 50lbs (22.5 kg)
Current Location: Guadalajara Mexico


RESCUE STORY - My rescuer found me trying to surive alone on the side of a road when I was only about 2 months old. I was in okay condition considering how young and vulnerable I was - thankfully I didn't show signs of abuse or anything like that. However it was clear I had been abandoned by my 'family' and that I was going to have a ruff life on the streets if someone didn't intervene. So at that point my rescuer scooped me up and brought me home! She says I adapted extremely well to the 'pack' of rescue doggos living with her. As it turns out, my rescue environment is set up like a home, where the pups are not kept in cages and we all live together as part of a family. This has allowed me to experience home life and develop into a wonderful little potential family pet (hint hint)! I play very well with other doggos and even cats and I am an obedient, attentive boy. My rescuer even jokes that I could make a great little “police dog” because of how smart and obedient I am. More than anything, my rescuer wants me to have a shot at what I deserve the most: A loving family who will care for me, love me, and give me a forever home where I never have to worry about being on the streets again.

TEMPERAMENT - My defining characteristics are: Playful but moderate, curious, and obedient. I am sweet and slightly shy. I am also a very calm pup with a moderate energy level, which is quite an achievement considering I'm still a puppy! I am now accustomed to living inside a home and I understand household routines (although some regression is normal when/if I change environments and come to Canada!). Besides living with many doggies, I also live well with cats although supervision is recommended because of the size difference between us. I'm easy to please, my favourite toys are plastic bottles and balls! What makes me happy most of all is positive attention and company from hoomans (I get very excited and happy when my rescuer comes home from work!) and I am also quite motivated by treats and simple rewards. I'm not a particularly nervous pup (as you can see by my leash videos) and I am accustomed to normal household noises, loud music, fireworks, and neighbours talking (however, as always, consideration should be taken to manage my comfort around loud noises as I am still a pup!).

ENERGY LEVEL - Moderate

GETS ALONG WITH:


Kids – Unknown but testing can be requested
Dogs – Yep!! I get along just fine with other dogs and am currently living with several other pups.
Cats – Unknown (no video footage provided) but testing can be requested


PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I'm not too sure how I'll react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.

TRAINING:


Leash skills – My rescuers say I am pretty good with this as you can see here and here however I may need some additional patience and training.
House trained – My rescuer says I am doing well with this but I may need some additional training and patience.
Crate trained – Not yet, I will need some additional training and patience.
Car rides – I do pretty well in the car but still may need some additional training and patience.

I am neutered and vaccinated.
NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.


ADOPTION FEE:


My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD including tax ($750.00 plus 5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.
