Olives Second Chance Story — A Sweet Soul Waiting to Feel Safe Again

Olive is a beautiful 1-year-old hound mix who is still trying to understand how she ended up back here with us. Her story began when she was found as a stray and brought to the shelter. She was adopted into a home, but sadly, it turned out not to be the right fit for this sensitive girl, and now Olive is hoping for someone who will truly see her heart and give her the time she needs.

Olive is a shy and cautious pup who has been through a lot of changes. She doesnt rush into new situations and needs a patient person who will allow her to decompress, build confidence, and warm up at her own pace. Her previous home was overwhelming for her, and she spent much of her time hiding because she didnt feel comfortable. Olive doesnt need pressure - she needs understanding, kindness, and a safe place where she can finally relax.

A quiet home without children would be the best match for this gentle girl, giving her the peaceful environment she needs to learn that she is loved and safe. Once Olive trusts you, her true personality shines through. She is one of the sweetest dogs youll ever meet and absolutely soaks up affection like a sponge. The love she gives once she feels secure is truly special.

Olive is still working on some manners and basic commands, but that is not her biggest priority right now. Her focus is learning that she can trust again. Once she feels settled and confident, she is a smart girl who will be ready to continue learning and growing with her forever person.

Olive did arrive without having been on heartworm prevention and tested low positive for heartworm. The good news is that it is highly treatable with the proper treatment.

This precious girl has already lost one home -now shes waiting for the person who will choose her, understand her, and never give up on her.

Olive's $300 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccines, microchip AND transport fee to a location near you. We currently have transportation to CT, MD, NJ, NY, PA, VA, GA, and TN. Please email transport@hssm.org for more information on transports!
