Buddy was a stray in Alabama, where he was found hiding under a truck. Despite his rough start, this sweet boy has nothing but love to give. He is housebroken, crate trained, and leash trained. Buddy has good manners, listens well, and comes when called. He is a low-energy guy who is happiest simply being with his people, snuggling, and quietly watching the world around him - he’s quite the people watcher!

Buddy absolutely loves people and is very gentle when meeting new friends. He is wonderful with children and does well with dogs, both males and females. He also gets along well with cats. Buddy isn’t a digger and not much of a barker. He enjoys both indoor and outdoor time and would love a home with a 4-foot fenced yard where he can relax and enjoy his surroundings. He would be perfectly happy as the only dog or sharing his home with other canine companions. He truly loves everyone and simply wants to be near his people. His favorite things include snuggles, companionship, and, naturally, tasty treats! He has a particular fondness for salmon, dried chicken, cheese, and pretty much any treat you’re willing to offer. Buddy doesn’t have any known dislikes or fears, making him an easygoing companion who is ready to enjoy life.

Buddy really is a gentle giant in every sense. He is a super-sweet boy who just wants a place to call his own, and he gets along with everyone and anything. He is also quite the looker - and he’s going to be a very big boy! Whether he’s relaxing beside his family, enjoying the outdoors, or quietly observing everything around him, Buddy is happiest when he’s with his people. He will do well in just about any environment and is ready to bring his gentle heart, loving personality, and big fluffy presence to his forever family.

Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature (www.nationalpyr.org/know-the-breed) and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.
