Meet Poppy!
Professional Cuddler. Social Butterfly. Full-Time Sweetheart.
Hi! I’m Poppy! I’m a gorgeous chocolate-colored girl with golden eyes, a ridiculously soft, shiny coat, and absolutely NO understanding of personal space. They think I’m a Lab or German Shorthaired Pointer mix, but personally, I believe I’m about 90% love and 10% professional snuggler.
My story started a little rough. I was dumped as a puppy and spent three months surviving on the streets. Why anyone would abandon someone as fabulous as me remains one of life’s great mysteries.
Thankfully, some wonderful humans rescued me, and now I’m living the good life in foster care!
My foster mom says I’m one of the sweetest dogs she’s EVER met. And trust me, that woman has fostered enough dogs to qualify as an expert. One of my rescuers even said I “wouldn’t hurt a butterfly.” She’s right. I’d probably invite it over for a playdate.
Let’s discuss my many outstanding qualifications!
Professional Velcro Dog: Going to the kitchen? I’m coming. Watching television? Scoot over. Going to bed? FINALLY! I’ve been waiting all day for my favorite activity. I firmly believe dogs belong in bed with their humans. Preferably touching them. All night. Personal space is overrated.
Social Butterfly: I absolutely LOVE other dogs! My foster family’s resident dog has officially declared me her favorite foster sibling of all time. Considering the competition, that’s a pretty impressive endorsement! I would LOVE a young, playful doggy sibling in my forever home. I share toys beautifully, enjoy a good game of tug-of-war, and believe life is better with a best friend.
Beauty AND Brains: I’m incredibly smart and learn commands quickly. My foster mom says I’m one of the easiest dogs she’s ever trained. I genuinely want to please my humans, and being told I’m a good girl is practically my love language.
Certified Sweetheart: I’m gentle, affectionate, playful, and completely convinced that everyone I meet is a potential friend. I don’t have a mean bone in my body.
Now, every superstar has a few requirements in her contract. Here are mine.
First, I’d really prefer a family that’s home quite a bit. After spending three months alone on the streets, I’ve decided that having humans around is a pretty fantastic arrangement. I can get anxious when left alone, so someone who works from home or spends plenty of time at home would be ideal. A playful canine sibling would be a wonderful bonus!
Second, we need to discuss crates.
I don’t do crates.
Nope. Not interested. Zero stars. Would not recommend.
My foster mom thinks my past experiences may have left me with some pretty unpleasant associations with confinement. Being crated makes me extremely upset, especially when I know my people are nearby. I’ll cry and work myself into a complete tizzy.
The good news? I’m perfectly happy relaxing in the house without a crate, and I even do fine at boarding when my family travels. I just need a home where crating isn’t part of the daily routine.
Other than those little requests, I’m remarkably easy to please!
Give me someone to love, a doggy friend to play with, a cozy home, and preferably a spot in your bed, and I’ll reward you with more love, loyalty, laughter, and cuddles than you ever thought possible.
My foster mom says I might be the most wonderful foster she’s ever had. I’m trying not to let that go to my head, but honestly, it’s difficult being this adorable AND this well-behaved.
I survived being abandoned. I survived living on the streets. And somehow, through it all, I never stopped believing that people are wonderful.
Now I’m ready for the one thing I’ve never had.
A family who will love me forever.
Could that be you?
Love and sloppy kisses,
Poppy
P.S. My fur is unbelievably soft. Seriously. Come pet me. You’ll understand.
