Meet Louis XIV — Yes, He’s Royalty. Just Ask Him.
Pug • Male • 30 lbs • Tan/Black • Professional Head-Tilter • Velcro Dog • Part-Time Comedian
Looking for a normal, dignified little Pug?
Keep scrolling.
Looking for 30 pounds of personality, questionable decisions, dramatic head tilts, and unconditional devotion wrapped in a Pug suit?
Allow us to introduce Louis XIV.
Louis is technically a Pug, although at 30 pounds he apparently missed the memo about being small. He’s built more like a French Bulldog and carries himself with the confidence of a dog who firmly believes the entire household exists for his convenience.
And honestly? He may be right.
Louis is smart, affectionate, playful, curious, and just quirky enough to keep you entertained every single day.
His most famous feature is his head tilt. Talk to him? Head tilt. Make a strange noise? Head tilt. Ask him why he’s doing something ridiculous? BIG head tilt.
We’re fairly certain he understands everything and is simply evaluating the quality of your decisions.
Louis LOVES people and is especially good with children. He is the definition of a Velcro dog and sees absolutely no reason why you should ever go to the bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, garage, or anywhere else without appropriate Pug supervision.
Personal space is really more of a suggestion.
He also gets along beautifully with other dogs and loves having canine friends to wrestle and play with. A friendly, playful dog buddy would be great for him, although Louis’s number-one priority is having humans who appreciate his need to be involved in absolutely everything.
Louis enjoys bully sticks, chew toys, enrichment activities, and climbing onto things that make you wonder:
“How did a 30-pound Pug even get up there?”
Louis knows.
Louis isn’t telling.
He is house-trained, doggy-door trained, and crate trained. He’ll tolerate a crate when necessary, but extended crating receives a very poor Yelp review from His Majesty. Louis believes he belongs with his subjects — preferably close enough to touch them.
Louis Comes With a Little Extra Character
When Louis was found, he had a broken front leg. The fracture has healed, and he walks normally and gets around just fine.
When he runs, however, you may occasionally see him limp. That little hitch in his royal stride will likely always be there.
Does Louis care?
Absolutely not.
He has places to go, dogs to play with, humans to supervise, furniture to climb, and snacks that aren’t going to eat themselves.
Louis has also undergone treatment for heartworm disease as part of his veterinary care.
Overall, Louis is a wonderfully funny, affectionate, social dog who would fit into many different homes. He could be a great companion for a family with children, a couple, or an individual who wants a devoted sidekick.
What he really needs is someone who understands that adopting Louis means acquiring a best friend, shadow, entertainment committee, household supervisor, and minor European monarch all in one.
Louis XIV is currently accepting applications for his forever kingdom.
The crown is optional.
The head tilts are included.
