Meet Reece!

Reece is a 7-month-old, 45-pound female German Shepherd mix with a big personality, an adventurous spirit, and SO much love to give! This beautiful girl is incredibly affectionate, friendly, and full of life. She’s looking for an active family who will embrace her playful personality and help her continue becoming the best version of herself!

Reece absolutely LOVES people and is always happy to make new friends! She’s an outgoing, social girl who enjoys being around her humans just as much as she loves getting outside and having fun. Whether she’s running around the yard, playing with her canine friends, going for walks, or hopping in the car for an adventure, Reece is always ready for a good time!

And this girl LOVES other dogs! She enjoys playing with her canine companions and even does wonderfully at doggy daycare. She’s the kind of pup who would thrive with plenty of opportunities to stay active, play, and burn off some of that puppy energy.

Reece is already off to a fantastic start with her training! She’s potty trained, crate trained, and does well on leash, although she may pull when something particularly exciting catches her attention. Her fosters have also been working with her on sit, down, off, wait, come, leave it, and drop it, and she’s continuing to learn and improve!

One important thing to know about Reece is that she does struggle with resource guarding. She can become protective of food, treats, and toys around both people and other dogs. Her foster family has been actively working with her on this, and she’ll need an adopter who understands resource guarding and is committed to continuing her training with patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement.

Despite this challenge, Reece has so many wonderful qualities! She even does well with the 5-year-old child in her foster home, although she has been known to sneak off with children’s toys or snacks when given the opportunity. Because of her resource guarding, however, we feel Reece would be best suited for an adult-only home or one with older, dog-savvy children who understand the importance of respecting a dog’s space and belongings. Any canine housemates would also need thoughtful introductions and appropriate management around food, toys, and treats.

Reece’s resource guarding is an important consideration, but it doesn’t define who she is. She’s an incredibly loving, social, playful girl with so much potential! With an understanding family willing to continue her training and help her build healthy habits, she has every opportunity to thrive.

At just 7 months old, Reece is still young and learning. She’s looking for someone who will appreciate all the wonderful things about her while also being prepared to work through the areas where she needs a little extra guidance.
