Meet Kit Kat

Kit Kat is a 1.5-year-old, 50-pound Chow Chow/Cattle Dog mix with an incredible story of resilience and a heart thats learning every day that people can be trusted.

Kit Kat came to us when she was about 5 months old after surviving on the streets her entire life alongside her siblings. Because they had very little exposure to people during those important early months, they came into rescue extremely under-socialized and unsure of the world around them.

Since then, Kit Kats foster family has poured countless hours into helping her build confidence, and the transformation has been nothing short of amazing. We are so incredibly proud of how far shes come, and she continues to make progress every single day.

Kit Kat would thrive in a home with at least one confident, friendly dog. She absolutely loves other dogs and learns so much by watching them. Having a canine companion to play with, snuggle with, and help show her the ropes is one of the most important things her forever home can provide.

While Kit Kat is quicker to trust dogs than people, once you earn her trust, youll discover an incredibly affectionate, loving companion. She loves snuggling with her dog friends, rolling around in the grass, showing off the cutest zoomies, and enjoying a tasty treat or two.

Kit Kat can be timid in new environments and around new people, but shes never shown fear aggression. When shes unsure, she simply chooses to create distance rather than react. Shell need an adopter who understands that trust is earned, not rushed, and who is willing to let her move at her own pace.

Shes potty trained but may have an occasional nervous accident if shes pushed into a new situation too quickly. Shes also crate trained. While she can be nervous walking on a short, taut leash, she does wonderfully on a longer leash where she has a little more freedom to feel comfortable and secure.

Kit Kat hasnt had the opportunity to freely interact with cats, but she has calmly observed them while crated and has shown no desire to chase or react to them.

Although Kit Kat missed out on important early socialization, she has made truly remarkable progress in rescue. Every week she becomes a little braver, a little more confident, and a little more trusting. We have no doubt that with a patient adopter, another friendly dog, and continued positive experiences, Kit Kat will blossom into an incredible lifelong companion.
