Carfox - Finnish Spitz Dog for Adoption in Fairfield, Connecticut

This tragic Texas dog story needs a happy ending!... My name is Carfox, and I am incredibly lucky to be alive. I am a male Finnish Spitz mix about 2-1/2 years old, 28 lbs, and I was involved in a structure fire and burned over about 60-70% of my body. I had many open wounds, lots of scabbing, my beautiful red fur was fried with large amounts missing, my left eyeball was gone, my whiskers were gone, my ears were almost gone, and parts of my skin were still sloughing off in chunks. I was in terrible pain, and when I was brought into the Corpus Christi Animal Care Services in Texas, people were gasping when they saw me. Bless my lucky stars when 4 Little Paws Rescue helpers made a 5-hour round trip to bring me to San Antonio so an experienced medical foster could care for me.

Fast forward 4 months, and my foster mom has done an incredible job helping me heal. She says I barely complained and was perfectly calm throughout all of my burn treatments. I now have all my vaccines, am neutered and microchipped, and not to brag, but I think I turned out as handsome as ever, with my beautiful red coat soft and fluffy again.

Despite all I have been through, I am the sweetest, happiest, friendliest, most loving dog you will ever meet. I’m great with children and other dogs, and I love to play. I am also very affectionate, love to snuggle, and enjoy my naps. I have a calm demeanor with a medium energy level, and I am well-behaved, housebroken, and quite honestly... I'm perfect! My foster mom says I am a very easy dog to love and care for, so the happy ending I have been dreaming about (a forever home) should be easy to achieve!! Inquire about me today.

The Finnish Spitz is a medium sized breed known for its fox like appearance, with erect ears, a bushy tail, and a dense double coat that comes in shades of golden red. Originating in Finland, these lively and energetic dogs were traditionally used for hunting small game, including birds and squirrels. Their distinctive yodel like bark, known as the "bark of the north," makes them excellent watchdogs. Finnish Spitz are intelligent, independent, and affectionate, making them loyal companions for active families.
