Stella is an 8-year-old English Setter who was taken to the shelter to be euthanized. Her owner said she was too old and was not a good hunting dog anymore. She is a loving, sweet-natured dog who is a wonderful companion and friend.
She is good with other dogs, adores people and is quiet and mannerly in the home (despite being housed in a garage most of her life). She can be left alone without incident and waits calmly by the door while her people are out working or shopping.
Her housetraining is good now and if you offer her walks or yard time she will always go. She loves going for walks but can pull when she sees a squirrel. She currently lives with two other dogs; a large Bernese mix and a small fragile shih tzu. Stella is ever so polite and respectful to both dogs. She is gentle and careful around the little shih tzu who can be a bit doddery and slow.
We think she would be fine with cats due to her gentle nature. When she takes treats you can barely feel her mouth on your hand.
Her best home would be someone who is home more than not, will offer her a few walks a day, have a yard she can play in, and won't mind a 60 pound lap dog. Another dog would be fine but she would also be fine as an only dog. Stella is one very special dog
