What volunteers have to say about this animal:
Meet Wyatt - Big Ol' Good Boy, Professional Sniffer, Occasional Howler
Wyatt is a big, friendly Coonhound mix with a lot of personality, and if you spend enough time with him, you may be treated to one of his spectacularly loud, completely out-of-nowhere howls.
He's a curious guy who likes to take in his surroundings before deciding it's time to come hang out with you. And while Wyatt is still working on some manners (particularly when food is involved!), he's an affable fellow who adjusts well once he's had a little time and space to settle in.
What Wyatt Is Like:
Curious and friendly
Very, VERY motivated by food
Loves exploring his surroundings
Interested in meeting other dogs
Stable and resilient when something startles him
Has an impressive Coonhound howl
Wyatt isn't particularly interested in toys, but he does enjoy exploring and checking out what other dogs are up to. He initially barked at a new canine friend, but by the end of their time together, the two were peacefully exploring side by side.
He's also learning that good things come from taking his time with new people. Wyatt may jump up when he first meets a stranger, but he settles down nicely once he's given a little room to adjust.
Wyatt's Ideal Home Looks Like:
- Kids around 6+, on a kid-by-kid basis
- Other dogs, on a dog-by-dog basis
- Someone ready to work on his manners (especially around food)
- Plenty of opportunities to sniff, explore, and investigate
- A family who won't mind the occasional enthusiastic Coonhound concert
Wyatt is a big, lovable guy who's still learning a few things about being a polite gentleman. But underneath those manners-in-progress is a curious, resilient dog who wants to explore the world-and every now and then, let the whole neighborhood know how he feels about it.
