Meet Skunk!
Male 2 years old Cocker Spaniel
Skunk is a sweet 2-year-old Cocker Spaniel who has already been through more than any dog should have to endure-but his story is about to change.
Skunk originally came to our attention after he was found running down a highway wearing a bright blue cast. He was picked up as a stray, and after animal control worked to locate his owner, they discovered that his family could no longer afford the care he needed and wanted to surrender him.
He had a severe fracture of his distal right humerus and had been in his original cast since July, with no improvement or healing of the leg. Skunk came into our rescue and went into a temporary foster home while our veterinary team evaluated him.
Unfortunately, our vets determined that his injury was too severe to repair, and the kindest option for him was amputation. Skunk underwent his amputation to remove the painful, damaged leg and give him the opportunity to finally move forward.
And now comes the exciting part-Skunk gets to start over.
Three legs aren't going to stop this boy from living his best life! Dogs are incredibly resilient, and Skunk deserves a home where his past doesn't define him and where he can finally experience the comfort, love, and security he has been missing.
He may have lost a leg, but he hasn't lost his chance at an amazing life.
Skunk is looking for a forever family who will see the sweet dog underneath his medical history and give him the chance to show them just how special he is.
His hardest days are behind him. His best days are ahead.
If you have room in your heart for a special boy who deserves a second chance, Skunk is ready to meet you.
