Meet MiMi. MiMi is an adorable Chihuahua mix. She is a beautiful girl who wants to share her love with you. If you are looking for a sweet girl with a loving, laid back spirit, MiMi is your girl!

MiMi was found dumped in an industrial complex in Garland TX (a suburb of Dallas) with several other Chihuahuas. She was picked up by Garland Animal Services. None of the Chihuahuas had identification. When no owners stepped up to claim her, the shelter reached out to CRT for help. CRT rescued her from the shelter environment and brought her into a CRT foster home. We adore this girl and are happy to help her.

Unfortunately during MiMi’s first vet visit, she tested positive for heartworms. We have completed the heartworm treatment for her, and MiMi handled it like a champ. We are now awaiting retest to confirm the treatment has been successful (scheduled for September). But she is happy, healthy and ready for a forever home.

MiMi gets along well with the other small dogs in her foster home. She enjoys running zoomies with them and playing with them. After play time, she will snuggle in a dog bed with her buddies for a team nap. MiMi also loves toys. She enjoys playing tug-of-war with her sister Chihuahua with her rope toy. And her favorite toy is her little squeaky duckie. She carries that duckie everywhere, even to bed at night. Her duckie will be going with her to her forever home.

MiMi adores her family. When she meets new people, she is very shy. She takes a few days to feel comfortable and will watch at a distance to make sure she is in a safe zone. But once she feels safe, her personality comes alive. She is super sweet and loves belly rubs and cuddles. She seeks out her humans and wants to be around them. MiMi will climb up on your lap for television watching. She enoys climbing up onto your towels as soon as they come out of the dryer (afterall, she is “helping” you get the towels organized!). She is such a loyal girl. MiMi is young but has an “old soul”. And it melts our hearts.

MiMi is smart! She has done great with her potty training. She will go potty outside and will follow the other dogs out when it is time to go potty. She will use a potty pad as a back up plan. She does occasionally have an accident but she is getting better and better. MiMi loves sleeping in bed with her humans. At night, she climbs under the covers, snuggles up and doesn’t move! Due to her heartworm positive status and the need to keep her activity limited for the first few months of treatment, we have not been walking her on a harness and leash. We have kept her on a harness and leash at the Meet and Greet events and she is fine with the process. So we think she do well with walks when we get to that stage.

Our vet estimates that MiMi is about 1 year old. She weighs about 10 pounds and that is a great weight for her. She has a Chiweenie type body (but we have not done a DNA test on her). MiMi has a beautiful tan coat with white highlights. We love the white stripe on her forehead. And her ears perk up when you call her name.

The ideal home for MiMi would be one with moderate to laid back energy. We think she would be good with another small laid back buddy. She would also probably do well as an only dog as long as her family was around to spend time with her. MiMi does need a family who can check on her every 4-6 hours (would not be a good fit for a family that works away from home 10-12 hours a day). MiMi is really quiet and would be a perfect “work at home” pet for your home office. She would love to lay in an office doggie bed and help motivate you through the day! She promises not to bark during zoom conference calls! There are no children in her foster home, but we think she would do well with older, mature children (13 and older). Younger children with fast movements might startle her. As a young pup, she’s looking for a forever home ready to share the next 15–20 years of love and companionship.

MiMi is being fostered in the Dallas-Fort Worth (Texas) area. Our CRT adoption form can be found at: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/ Note: it works best when our application is filled out on a computer versus a phone or tablet. When it submits correctly, the system will send you a copy. Feel free to email us at DFWCoordinator@chihuahua-rescue.com if you need help with the application.

MiMi is spayed, microchipped, up to date on shots, has been treated for heartworms (all is good – just need a retest in September) and on heartworm prevention. She is ready for adoption. Are you ready to give her a forever home?

This dog is a CRT rescue. Reference checks, adoption contract and $300.00 adoption donation required. (It would be terrific if her new family would do a Facebook birthday fundraiser to offset MiMi’s heartworm treatment medical bill, but additional money is not required with her adoption.)

As part of our mission to reduce the number of unwanted and sick dogs, we require that all current pets are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and taking heart worm prevention. Applications will not be considered if one or more of these requirements are not met.

After filling out an adoption application (found at http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/), please email DFWCoordinator@chihuahua-rescue.com if you are interested in this dog. Please be sure to read about our adoption process and then fill out an adoption application before emailing the contact person.
