I know... it's a funny name.

Maybe it's because I'm little.

Maybe it's because I only weigh 8.2 pounds.

Or maybe it's because, when people first found me, I was so skinny that I looked like there was almost nothing left of me.

I am about 3 years old chihuahua mix. neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and house-trained.

I will travel from Northern California to my foster home in Ridgefield, WA by the end of June hoping that my real family is out there. I can travel to Vancouver, BC if there is a potential adopter for me.

Here is my story:

I don't remember how long I was alone.

I just remember always being hungry.

The kind of hungry where your tummy hurts all the time.

The kind of hungry where you stop dreaming about toys or adventures and only think about finding your next meal.

People say I was just skin and bones when I arrived at the shelter.

I didn't know it was a high-kill shelter.

I didn't know what those words meant.

I just knew I was tired.

Tired of wandering.

Tired of being hungry.

Tired of wondering if anyone would ever see me.

Then one day, someone did.

Someone looked at this tiny little stray dog with the skinny body and hopeful eyes and decided I deserved a second chance.

And that second chance changed everything.

Now I don't have to wonder where my next meal is coming from.

I eat every day.

Actually... I eat very enthusiastically.

My foster family laughs because they say I've made it my personal mission to gain back every pound I lost.

And I'm doing a pretty good job.

My little body is healthy again.

My beautiful red coat is shiny.

My curly tail is always wagging.

And my heart... well, I don't think that was ever broken.

I still love everyone.

Big dogs, little dogs, new people, old peopleit doesn't matter to me. I think the world is full of friends I just haven't met yet.

But if I had to choose my favorite thing in the whole world...

It would be laps.

I don't need to be invited.

I don't need a fancy dog bed.

If you sit down for even a second, there's a very good chance you'll look down and realize I've quietly climbed into your lap and made myself comfortable.

I don't bark much.

I don't ask for much.

I just like being close.

Close enough to feel safe.

Close enough to know that I belong.

Sometimes I wonder what my forever family is doing right now.

Maybe they're looking for a little companion.

Maybe they want a quiet little shadow to follow them around the house.

Maybe they have an empty spot on the couch... or even better, an empty spot on their lap.

I hope they know that I don't care about fancy things.

I don't need a huge house or exciting adventures every day.

I've already learned that the little things are the most important.

A full belly.

A warm blanket.

A gentle hand.

A person who smiles when they see me.

A family who promises that I'll never have to be alone again.

I may have had a rough beginning, but I don't carry sadness with me.

I carry hope.

Hope that my hardest days are behind me.

Hope that my forever family is out there.

Hope that somewhere, someone is reading this and thinking,
