My name is Bun Bun.

I am a 6-month-old Beagle/Dachshund mix weighing approximately 12 pounds full of joy and love and ready to start the life I've always deserved.

I am fully vetted, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and house-trained.

I will make a long journey to travel from Southern California to my foster home in Ridgefield, WA... by the middle of June hoping hoping that my real family is out there. I can also travel to Vancouver, BC if there is a potential adopter for me.

Here is my story:

I don't know why I was left behind.

I don't know why someone drove into the desert, looked at me and my siblings, and decided we weren't worth taking home.

All I know is that one day we had nobody.

The desert can be a scary place for a tiny puppy. The sun was hot, the nights were cold, and every sound made us jump. We were hungry, thirsty, and far too young to understand why we were all alone.

My brothers and sisters would huddle together for comfort. We didn't have a warm bed. We didn't have toys. We didn't have anyone telling us we were good puppies.

We only had each other.

But somehow, hope found us.

Someone saw us. Someone cared.

Instead of walking away, they stopped. They picked us up and showed us kindness when the world had been anything but kind.

For the first time, I felt what it was like to be safe.

For the first time, I had a full belly.

For the first time, I learned that hands could be gentle and loving.

And despite everything that happened to me, I still love everyone.

I love children who giggle when I zoom around the yard.

I love other dogs who want to play and wrestle.

I love people who stop to pet me and tell me how pretty I am.

My heart never stopped believing in love, even when I had every reason to.

Every night, I curl up in my bed and dream about my forever family.

I dream about a home where I'll never be abandoned again.

I dream about someone calling my name with excitement when they come home.

I dream about adventures, belly rubs, cozy blankets, and growing old beside the people who love me.

Most of all, I dream about belonging.

I survived being left behind in the desert. Now all I want is a family who will never leave me behind again.

Maybe that family is yours.
