Meet Fig!

Some dogs come into rescue ready to take on the world. Fig is not one of those dogs - at least not yet.

Fig is a young adult Chihuahua weighing just under 6 pounds. While we don't know much about his past, it is clear that he missed out on important early socialization. Everyday things that many dogs take for granted can feel overwhelming to him. New people, new environments, and new experiences are all things he is still learning to navigate.

The good news? Fig is making progress every day.

One thing that gives him confidence is other dogs. He absolutely enjoys the company of dogs both big and small and takes his cues from them. Because of this, Fig is looking for a home with another friendly, confident dog who can help show him that the world isn't such a scary place. He is also good with cats.

Fig has never shown aggression. His challenge isn't attitude-it's fear. He needs a family that understands that trust is earned, not rushed. He may not be the dog who greets visitors at the door or hops into your lap on day one. But for someone willing to give him patience, consistency, and understanding, watching him grow in confidence will be incredibly rewarding.

He is crate trained, keeps his kennel clean, and will use a potty pad. Because he is still building trust with people, he will need a securely fenced yard and should remain on leash during outings until he is fully bonded and reliable.

Fig's ideal adopter understands that tiny dogs are still dogs. They need training, structure, patience, and opportunities to learn just like any larger breed. Fig isn't looking for someone to "save" him-he's looking for someone willing to meet him where he is and help him continue becoming the dog he's meant to be.
