Meet Dot!
Fostered in: Guelph, ON
Weighs: 22lbs
Dot’s story is one of second chances. This sweet girl was saved from euthanasia by her amazing foster, who saw the wonderful dog underneath all that energy and gave her the chance she deserved. And now that she’s had some time to settle in, we’re learning just how special Dot really is.
Dot is a VERY high-energy girl who would absolutely love to find an active family that can keep her busy — both mentally and physically. She is playful, enthusiastic, and always ready for the next adventure. If you’re looking for a dog who can keep up with you, Dot may be your girl!
She met her foster’s dogs without any issues and LOVES to play. In fact, she would happily play all day if someone let her! She does well with other dogs but can get a little carried away and may continue playing until her playmate tells her enough is enough.
Despite her energy, Dot is proving to be a very good girl in the home. She has settled in considerably and doesn’t chew things she shouldn’t. She is doing wonderfully on walks, and once she gets the initial excitement out of her system, she walks beautifully. Nothing seems to bother her — she doesn’t take things to heart and simply rolls with the punches.
Dot is also:
- Doing very well with her crate
- Sleeping in her crate overnight
- Spending 3–4 hours crated during the day
- Having very few accidents in the house
- Showing zero resource guarding with food, toys, people, or anything else
- Very cuddly, happy, and affectionate
Like many high-energy working-type dogs, Dot can become mouthy and may exhibit some heeler-style nipping when overstimulated. Her new family will need to be committed to helping her learn appropriate ways to manage her excitement and providing her with the mental and physical stimulation she needs.
Breed experience is highly recommended for Dot. She will thrive with someone who understands high-drive dogs and is excited to give her structure, training, exercise, enrichment, and a job to do.
Dot isn't looking for a couch-potato lifestyle — she’s looking for someone who wants a fun, active, affectionate adventure buddy and is ready to put in the work that comes with a high-energy dog.
In return, you’ll get a happy, cuddly, resilient girl who is ready to give you her whole heart.
Dot was given a second chance. Now she’s looking for the family who will make that second chance count.
