I have ... A big personality in a little body, strong opinions about personal space, a cozy side, and an affectionate streak that comes out once I trust you. I also have some eating habits that my foster family is helping me work through.
I get along with ... Respectful dogs who understand my cues and give me space. I may be able to share a home with a compatible canine companion, but careful introductions and supervision are important.
I would rather not ... Live in a loud, chaotic household, have other dogs constantly in my face, or be expected to warm up to everyone immediately. I appreciate a quieter environment where I can relax and feel secure.
I need ... A patient adopter who will give me time to settle in, respect my boundaries, and help me continue learning about appropriate dog food. A lower-activity home with older, respectful children would be ideal. I need someone who appreciates my personality and understands that a little patience can go a long way.
I’m not going to pretend I’m a perfect little angel. I have opinions, I like things a certain way, and I need people who understand that trust takes time. But if you appreciate a quirky little companion who can be incredibly affectionate once he feels safe, I might just be your guy!

Good with other dogs? I may do best with a compatible dog who isn’t overly pushy. Careful introductions are important.
Good with cats? Not yet tested
Good with young children? I would be better suited to a home with older, respectful children around 8–10 years old and up.
Good with strangers? I take a little time to warm up, but once I trust you, I can be very affectionate.
Shy or confident? Initially reserved, but full of personality once I feel comfortable.
Barks? Yes, outside
Apartment quaApartment qualified? Possibly, depending on my barking habits, exercise needs, and the individual apartment environment.

All our dogs are spayed/neutered (if six months and older), up to date on rabies and distemper, heartworm tested, and microchipped. Other medical needs diagnosed while in foster care are also treated prior to adoption.
MABTR requires a fenced in area from families who own their home, however we DO adopt to apartment complexes and communities where fences are not permitted due to leases and covenants. In these cases a leash law must be enforced. We do not accept invisible fencing.
MABTR only adopts to families residing in NE, CO, MO, KS, IA, WY, SD, ND, ID, UT, MT, MN, and NW AR due to the lack of volunteer support in other states, no exception even if you are willing to drive.
