My name is Blackie. I’m 2 years old and weigh 17 pounds. My family was moving and couldn’t keep me. I am being fostered in Sioux Falls, SD.
I’m your typical Boston who has no concept of personal space. I’ll flop all over you and I also have a bad of habit of going right for your face to give you kisses with lots of enthusiasm. My foster mom says this not okay and I’m trying to be better. I don’t know any commands yet but I’m very food motivated so with some time and patience I’m sure I’ll learn fast.
I love galloping around in the backyard. So much to smell and pee on! I have tried to mark in the house but otherwise I’ve been good and done my business outside. The foster parents take me outside often though.
I have lived with another dog and there’s a dog in my foster home. I’m not very interested in her though, I very much prefer the humans. Where ever you are, I will be there like a little shadow. I’m a good supervisor in the kitchen and will eventually fall asleep at your feet. When you sit down, I like to be in your lap or right beside you. I do sleep in my kennel at night and when the foster parents are gone and don’t mind it. I’m really not interested in toys right now either.
I would do best in a home with someone who can work on my training and give me lots of love. I would do fine in a home with or without another dog.
Here's a little more about me:
Housetrained? Has marked but otherwise no accidents
Leash-trained? Yes
Rides well in car? Yes, wants to be on your lap
Good with other dogs? Yes, not much of a playmate at this time
Good with cats? Not yet tested
Good with young children? Not yet tested. He does jump up so small kids might not be the best.
Good with strangers? Yes, a little shy at first
Shy or confident? Shy but warms up fast
Barks? Only once while playing outside.
Apartment qualified? Yes, would need daily exercise to burn his energy though.
Any Special needs or Health Issues? No.
Adoption Fee? $ 450

All our dogs are spayed/neutered (if six months and older), up to date on rabies and distemper, heartworm tested, and microchipped. Other medical needs diagnosed while in foster care are also treated prior to adoption.
MABTR requires a fenced in area from families who own their home, however we DO adopt to apartment complexes and communities where fences are not permitted due to leases and covenants. In these cases a leash law must be enforced. We do not accept invisible fencing.
MABTR only adopts to families residing in NE, CO, MO, KS, IA, WY, SD, ND, ID, UT, MT, MN, and NW AR due to the lack of volunteer support in other states, no exception even if you are willing to drive.
