Sweet Maxine found herself in the shelter after she and her siblings wound up on a good samaritan's property in AL. We don't know her backstory but we do know that she is shy, cautious, and weary of men so she may not have been treated the best in her younger years. She's estimated to be about three years old and weighs only 30 lbs- she needs some groceries to help fill out to her ideal weight. Once she knows a person is safe, she warms right up but she definitely needs people to shower her with love and show her what it means to be safe in a loving home. She walks well on leash and waits to potty outside at the shelter, which indicates that she is potty trained although we always expect a few accidents when in a new home. She is currently in AL but we hope to bring her to Maine this fall and find her a loving home where she can forget all about the cruelty she faced in AL
