Enzo is being fostered in Cincinnati, Ohio
This handsome guy's name is Enzo, and he is offering all the love you are willing to take! Enzo is a black and white mail Australian Shepherd and border collie mix, approximately 4 years of age, weighing 65 - 70 pounds, Enzo is a pretty laid-back boy who enjoys pets, playing with toys, playing ball, carrying toys around and taking lots of naps. Enzo's former owner had a medical issue and were unable to continue to care for him. He lived with another dog and cat. Since coming into rescue, Enzo settled in very well in his foster home with two Aussies (male and female) and two cats. He plays very well with both dogs which are smaller than him. He does fabulous with an actually loves cats!
Enzo is very sweet and gentle and knows a few commands such as "sit" and "come". He is a very good listener and always comes when asked! He can have a loud bark and uses it
appropriately but sometimes just lets out a few barks for fun or a whine when he wants something, or he wants attention!
Enzo does great on his own and does well with her foster siblings. Enzo really loves toys and balls. He'll play fetch as long as you would allow. He is very gentle when he brings the toys back and easily gives them back for another round of fetch. He will play chase with his foster siblings when outside! He will occasionally de-stuff his toys!, but that's pretty normal behavior for a playful pup. He carries his toys around the house, outside and to bed like they're his best friend.
Enzo has initially exhibited a bit of resource guarding with a resident dog (who occasionally guards her food) so there was a small quarrel, which was very easily corrected and both went on with their day as best buddies. Enzo will give the appropriate low growl when he is presented with his favorite treat, which is dog ice cream. He is a very good eater and knows when it's time for wet food, he proudly walks next to me and waits for the special food.
Enzo did fabulous when he first arrived rescue; he stayed in a gated room and didn't make a peep. He is not a big fan of the crate and we have secured him with a gate versus continuing the crate. He would do fine in a gated room vs. the crate.
Enzo does warm up to strangers nicely with some treats, however, he has not been around small children. He is not bothered by loud noises, storms, or other household activities. He is a typical dog and has found his voice and will bark once or twice at animals or other people he can see from his backyard.
Enzo sleeps fine in a bed but he prefers to sleep at the doorway of his foster parent's bedroom or on his dog bed during the day. Enzo is a lower energy dog but he will play hard when it's time. Enzo came from a downtown apartment area so is used to visiting dog parks and being leashed to go outside. Enzo is fabulous in car. He is not fond of the vet's office and is best muzzled for any preventative care.
Whether it's a day of running errands, a night in chewing on his stuffies near his person or playing with dog friends, Enzo is content as can be. His future home would ideally give him the best of both worlds
