Finley is fostered in South Bend, Indiana.
This handsome guy is Finley. He's an 8 year old tricolor tripod with blue eyes, weighing approx 35 pounds. He lost his back left leg as a pup; a result of a fracture that never healed properly. He still enjoys fetching a ball, taking a walk or a swim. When he's relaxing in his foster home, he can usually be found with a ball or stuffy in his mouth. Those are two of his favorite things.
As a senior pup, he is slowing down a little bit and doesn't always feel up to handling lots of stairs. A one-level home would be best for him. Since he'll be following you; he likes to be close to his person. He came from a home with a newborn that he wasn't responding well to, so we recommend a quiet home with no children.
Finley takes daily medication for a bit of separation anxiety, which he is doing better with. He also has Trazadone (as needed) for storms and fireworks. Finley crate trained and potty trained and rides well in the car. He'll just need help getting in. He doesn't jump on furniture either.
Finley gets along with other dogs and cats. He's sometimes excitably barks if others are playing. He is lovingly referred to as a referee. Finley is a sweet, mostly mellow who likes spending time with his human(s). Finley would do best with an adopter who is home more often than not.
Finley's must haves:
A quiet home with a mature person(s) with children under 10 years of age
Someone that will continue with his daily schedule and as-needed medications.
A one-level home would be best since he's experiencing some challenges with stairs.
Acknowledging that as a tripod, he may continue to have mobility issues and potentially develop some arthritis.
The ideal environment for him will allow him to spend the rest of his days in a loving home, at a slower pace, with folks that love him because is he SO deserving of this!
Finley is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms. Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization. NOTE: All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in. Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application. We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.
