Bandit is a 1-year-old Miniature Australian Shepherd weighing 26 pounds. This sweet young boy is still learning that the world can be a safe place and is looking for a patient, understanding family who will help him build confidence at his own pace.
While Bandit can be shy when meeting new people and experiencing new situations, he continues to make progress every day. He is still sensitive to new experiences and will need time, patience, and encouragement as he adjusts to new people, environments, and routines. He is looking for adopters who will allow him to come out of his shell at his own pace while continuing to build trust and confidence.
Because Bandit takes comfort and guidance from other dogs, he requires a home with another dog-social, confident canine already in the household. Having a canine companion will provide reassurance, help show him the ropes, and encourage him as he continues to gain confidence.
A home without young children is preferred for Bandit, as a quieter and more predictable environment will give him the best opportunity to feel comfortable and continue building his confidence.
Bandit also requires a securely fenced yard where he can safely run, explore, and play while he continues learning his leash skills and becoming more comfortable with the world around him.
A required in-person meet and greet at our shelter is part of the adoption process to help ensure a good fit for Bandit, any resident dogs, and his potential adopters.
With patience, understanding, and the support of a confident canine companion, Bandit has all the potential to blossom into a wonderful companion. He is looking for a family who will celebrate each step of his journey and help him continue discovering that the world is a safe and happy place.

Many NMDR dogs have had limited prior socialization and may need time, patience, and support as they adjust to home life. Skills such as house training, leash walking, and handling may require continued practice. Progress will vary by individual dog. Homes with older children are often a good fit, depending on temperament. To learn more about NMDR and our adoption process, please visit our website.
