Shilo - Australian Cattle Dog Blue Heeler Dog for Adoption in Boulder, Colorado

SHILO

Australian Cattle Dog Blue Heeler
🇺🇸
Boulder, Colorado
July 14th
female, medium, young

DESCRIPTION

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see a sweet young dog that desperately needs our help. Shiloh was one of these dogs that was in dire need due to lack of space in a high-kill shelter and was therefore facing euthanasia within the hour.

This gorgeous girl deserved so much better. She deserves a wonderful home that is filled with pure love and nurturing. Shiloh's excellent temperament is a gift that she'll bring to a dog-crazy family that is searching for that loyal best friend who will always be by their side.

Shiloh is a gorgeous 1 year old, 34 lb purebred Australian Cattle Dog that was saved from euthanasia due to her wonderful personality (initially shy but warms up into a sweetie pie), love of life and very kind demeanor with both humans and other dogs. She is untested with cats.

Shiloh's breed was identified by Houston shelter veterinarians. We can't swear to it as no DNA test was done. All we're positive of is that this loving and very clever girl is absolutely irresistible!

We received the following from one of Shilo's rescuers:

Shilo has the sweetest soul. She calms right down when a staff member gently carries her, melting into your arms as if she's been searching for your love all along. She enjoys soft pets, kind voices, and the reassurance that she's safe. Every little bit of love helps her confidence grow.

This wonderful girl gets along well with other dogs and would likely blossom in a home with a friendly canine companion to help show her the ropes. She's learning leash skills every day, has a calm, easygoing nature, and isn't the high-energy Heeler many people would expect. Shilo is totally content to simply be near those she trusts.

And, OMG, can we talk about that face? That perfect little mask showing off those warm, hopeful eyes... this wonderful girl is impossible to forget.

Shilo is so much fun to be around once she feels comfortable in her environment. She was initially quite shy and disturbed by the ear-shattering noise of the shelter. We quickly went outside and Shilo was visibly relieved. She became more attentive to my baby talk and was sweet with first a slightly wagging tail and finally a big kiss!

Shiloh will be a champ in positive reinforcement / force-free obedience school classes! You can tell immediately that she's super-smart and developing (with the help of yummy treats) a desire to please that's so important for success in training classes. Shilo is also young, so some initial puppyish behavior should be expected. She's a great age to begin her positive reinforcement training and general socialization to make her the awesome adult dog she's so capable of being.

Sweet Shilo is a perfect size to accompany her family just about everywhere a medium-sized dog is welcome. She will fit right into virtually every situation with her training experience and due to her great temperament and very sweet personality.

As Shiloh becomes more and more comfortable in her forever Colorado home, she'll blossom and become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please. The happier her family is with her behavior, the more Shiloh will shine with her accomplishments.

Farfel's would like to see our wonderful girl in a home that includes her in family time and fun activities (and some lap or couch-time with belly rubs would be absolutely perfect!) as well as taking that extra step to participate in positive reinforcement virtual or in-person obedience classes. These classes successfully teach a smart and cooperative dog like Shiloh the skills to accompany her family out into the world with excellent behavior. Farfel's Rescue is happy to provide a list of approved virtual and in-person force-free / positive reinforcement trainers in your area.

Shiloh has been fully vetted, is up to date on her vaccinations and has been spayed. This vetting supports Farfel's commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs that won't contribute to the overpopulation within the canine population.

Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and very loving best friend and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-res. cue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Shiloh please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

FARFEL'S FARM & RESCUE: DOG SHELTER & RESCUE

Farfel’s Farm & Rescue was founded on the idea that each dog deserves a loving home and the chance for a happy life. We are so thrilled to be able to rescue these amazing dogs from urgent situations in Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas and Cancun, Mexico. Working with a dedicated team of volunteers, the dogs are pulled from high-kill shelters because they’ve been recognized for the gifts they will bring to a loving family. They are then transported by specially licensed vans to Colorado for a second chance at life. The dogs are evaluated and treated for any medical issues before being transitioned to their new family, where they can become accustomed to having a family’s love, a warm bed and plenty of healthy food!
