Piper - Border Collie and Chihuahua Dog Available for Adoption in Boulder, Colorado

PIPER

Border Collie, Chihuahua
🇺🇸
Boulder, Colorado
June 3rd
female, small, young

DESCRIPTION

Piper's engaging and sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated. She is such a wonderful being. We think she represents the best qualities of both the Border Collie and Chihuahua breeds.

At just about 2 years old and 15 lbs, Piper is the perfect size for neighborhood walks (once comfortable in her environment), beautiful hikes in the Colorado mountains, car rides to dog-friendly destinations or fun backyard play. All would speak to Piper 's love of coming along and being with her family. She would love nothing more than to spend a day of play and walks followed by crashing on the couch for belly rubs and snuggles.

Piper may be initially shy due to all the changes in her life. Once comfortable, she will become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please. The happier her family is with her behavior, the more Piper shines with her accomplishments. We would love to see this sweet girl in a home that includes her in family time and activities. She's loving and as sweet as can be and will thrive in a dog-loving and very nurturing environment.

Piper will be a wonderful companion for active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with an adorable fluffy pup. Our sweet girl will initially be reserved (after her experience at a scary shelter, she needs time and patience to come out of her shell) but some kind words, a loving hug and a yummy treat, and Piper falls deeply in love.

Piper doesn't require another dog to be happy. She loves her people dearly and if they're attentive and loving, this sweet and loyal girl will be fulfilled and very happy. If a gentle dog is already part of the family, that's great with Piper as well. She enjoys her time spent in the company canines and that dog will become Piper's best friend.

Piper will do well with any loving guardian who's invested in spending time with their pup. She's so pleasant and portable that she can be a part of any adventure. It can be a leisurely walk socializing with neighbors, a picnic in the park or a hike through Aspen trees. A car ride is also always great, especially if it leads to a fun, dog-loving spot. At day's end, a spot on the bed all night beside her favorite humans will speak to the loving nature of this little dog.

Piper's Texas rescuer had the following to say about our sweet girl:

Miss Piper is a one of a kind special girl. She is so full of sweet energy and is as happy as can be once she's comfortable in her environment. Miss P had a difficult start in life and is now understanding more each day that she's a wonderful being. I can see her self-esteem growing stronger and stronger each day. It's truly a joy to observe!

Farfel's Rescue feels very strongly that every dog deserves the opportunity for formal, positive reinforcement / force-free training classes that are virtual or in-person. We therefore aren't willing to adopt Piper out to a home that doesn't choose to offer her this training opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement / force-free virtual and in-person trainers in your area.

Piper will be up to date on her vetting / vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs. She has also been spayed to support our hopes for a euthanasia - free future in the canine population.

The picture of Piper in no way shows the beauty of this little dog. We've requested additional photos and will update upon receipt.

Piper will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Wednesday. 6/10/2026. Adoption applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and cuddly best friend. An app can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Piper, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

FARFEL'S FARM & RESCUE: DOG SHELTER & RESCUE

Farfel’s Farm & Rescue was founded on the idea that each dog deserves a loving home and the chance for a happy life. We are so thrilled to be able to rescue these amazing dogs from urgent situations in Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas and Cancun, Mexico. Working with a dedicated team of volunteers, the dogs are pulled from high-kill shelters because they’ve been recognized for the gifts they will bring to a loving family. They are then transported by specially licensed vans to Colorado for a second chance at life. The dogs are evaluated and treated for any medical issues before being transitioned to their new family, where they can become accustomed to having a family’s love, a warm bed and plenty of healthy food!
