DESCRIPTION

There's nothing quite like young dog sweetness and silliness...and then they put their beautiful heads quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm breath. These very loving and sweet as can be dogs are so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them homeless and alone on the city streets or in a high-kill shelter scheduled for euthanasia due to lack of space.

The Farfel's crew fell in love with Taylor the moment we laid eyes on her photo! This gorgeous 10 months old, 35 lb Cattle Dog / Australian Shepherd is sooo sweet while initially a just bit shy. Taylor was dog tested at a veterinarians office and did very well with both other dogs, humans and even ignored cats in carriers.

Taylor's rescuer had the following to say about our sweet girl:

Taylor arrived at the shelter and it was love at first sight for all of us! Maybe it was her turquoise eyes and gorgeous markings but it went so far beyond that. She's just downright sweet as can be. Everyone is drawn to her not only because of her beauty but her friendly sweetness overflows. Taylor will be shy initially (so many changes in her short life) but blossoms quickly. And when she does, she's the cuddliest and most irresistible girl around!

Taylor was brought to the local vet for her workup to receive her interstate health certificate from Texas to Colorado. It was amazing how excellent her behavior was for such a young pup. She did SO well with all of the dogs and even the grumpy kitties at the vet's office. The cats were in carriers but she had no reaction to all their meowing and hissing. Sweet Tay just literally laid down on the floor in the middle of all the chaos and chilled. This girl is definitely a young baby with an old soul. She's absolutely irresistible!

We frequently see dogs like Taylor in rescue. They've often been dumped onto city streets or maybe it's a breeder that runs out of funds or a hoarding situation where their lives don't matter. It's fortunate that Taylor is very young, has a great temperament and is responding so well to love and nurturing. Dogs like Tay are blessed with excellent resilience that enables them to bounce back with love and sweetness in their hearts. We find that they also make great family members and we're happy to place them in dog-crazy Colorado homes.

Since Freya is just a young girl, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion that will form firm bonds with her family through virtual or in-person positive reinforcement / force-free Obedience level 1 Classes. These classes will make a profound difference in a young dog's ultimate behavior and in her relationship / bonding with her people. It does take time and commitment, yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior.

Farfel's Rescue feel very strongly that every dog deserves the opportunity for formal, positive reinforcement / force-free training classes that are virtual or in-person. We therefore aren't willing to adopt Taylor out to a home that doesn't choose to offer her this training opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement / force-free trainers in your area.

We're open to Taylor finding her forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart young dog. A younger family that works from a home-based office would also be a great choice for a pup that would love nothing more than getting loved up periodically throughout the day. Taylor enjoys her relationships with all humans and dogs. We would prefer, however, to place her in a home with older kids (tail pulling or rough treatment will create an adult dog that's fearful of children). Older kids can also be active participants in a training regimen and friendship that's so important in a dog's development.

Taylor has a stunning coat that is currently shelter-sad. She'll require a lifelong commitment to periodic baths / brushing and excellent nutrition to keep her coat very healthy and cottony-soft. Through extensive research and use with our own dogs, Farfel's recommends a fresh, human-grade diet for all dogs. Our favorite hands down is Chi Diet (chidog.com). Its designed for the excellent health and longevity of your dog.

Taylor has been fully vetted, vaccinated and spayed to be in line with Farfel's commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs that won't contribute to the overpopulation tragedy in the canine population.

Taylor will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Saturday 7/18/2026. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet as can be, super-smart and SO snuggly pup. An adoption application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE** If truly interested in adopting Taylor, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

FARFEL'S FARM & RESCUE: DOG SHELTER & RESCUE

Farfel’s Farm & Rescue was founded on the idea that each dog deserves a loving home and the chance for a happy life. We are so thrilled to be able to rescue these amazing dogs from urgent situations in Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas and Cancun, Mexico. Working with a dedicated team of volunteers, the dogs are pulled from high-kill shelters because they’ve been recognized for the gifts they will bring to a loving family. They are then transported by specially licensed vans to Colorado for a second chance at life. The dogs are evaluated and treated for any medical issues before being transitioned to their new family, where they can become accustomed to having a family’s love, a warm bed and plenty of healthy food!
