We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog.
Chaparrito, or Chapa for short, is a 1 year old Staffie mix weighing around 50lbs, and he is one very special boy looking for his forever home. Hes smart, silly, affectionate, and full of puppy charm. Chapa is crate and potty trained, neutered, vaccinated, and up to date on his preventative medications. Chapa is currently being fostered in AUSTIN, Texas but can transport out of state to an approved adopter.
Chapa has plenty of playful puppy energy and loves to zoom around outside, especially first thing in the morning! But once playtime is over, hes more than happy to settle in and chill with his people. Hes incredibly cuddly and loyal, loves being close to his person, and is very food motivated—which makes continued training a lot of fun. He can be a little stubborn and vocal at times, but hes also very smart and eager to learn.
On walks, Chapa does wonderfully on leash—he doesnt pull, knows how to heel, and isnt reactive when passing other dogs. He may stare out of curiosity, but hes been proven to be dog friendly. He tends to do better with females and can be unsure around unfamiliar males, so slow, controlled introductions are important. A well-matched canine companion could be a wonderful addition to his forever home and may help him feel more confident and settled.
Chapa has also been around cats and may playfully chase if they run, so a confident, dog-savvy cat and continued training around them would be the best fit. He does well with children, but because he still has lots of puppy energy and can jump when excited, older, dog-savvy kids who understand boundaries would be ideal. Chapa is also wonderfully communicative and gives his own cues when hes uncomfortable or ready for a break from socializing—his people just need to listen.
Chapa has shown some separation anxiety when crated, but he is capable of settling and can stay home alone for up to about four hours. Hes also been on many car rides and is slowly gaining confidence as he works through his fear of the car. He hasnt shown resource guarding with people, although we recommend feeding him separately from other pets as a precaution.
Chapa's ideal home will be patient and understanding as he decompresses and gets comfortable in his new surroundings, ideally with someone familiar with bully breeds. He's an outgoing, curious, playful boy once he feels safe, and underneath all that puppy energy is a deeply affectionate dog who simply wants to be loved.
If you're looking for a silly, loyal, cuddly companion and are ready to help Chapa continue becoming the best version of himself, he may just be your guy.
