We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog.

Meet Rufus, a handsome 1.5 year old 47lbs Staffie mix looking for his forever family! He's neutered, up to date on vaccinations and preventatives, and has the sweetest personality. With his medium energy level, Rufus is just as happy going for an adventure as he is relaxing at home with his people.

Rufus is a social butterfly with other dogs. He plays wonderfully with both small and large dogs, loves meeting new canine friends, and is great at reading their cues when it's time to take a break. He also walks beautifully on leash without pulling and calmly passes unfamiliar dogs with no leash reactivity. We'd love to see him in a home with another playful dog to keep him company!

This good boy has excellent manners. He's fully potty trained, crate trained, and sleeps soundly through the night in his crate. He happily relaxes there while home alone too. Rufus currently lives with a cat and politely ignores them, and he's done very well with children ages 9 and up.

Rufus is incredibly affectionate and loves toys, treats, belly rubs, and cuddling on the couch. He forms deep bonds with his family, especially with women, and may need slow, positive introductions to men while he learns they can be trusted. Once you earn his heart, you'll have a loyal companion for life.

One of Rufus's funniest stories is that when he was first rescued, he didn't understand what dog beds were and destroyed several of them! Now, he's simply grateful to have a cozy bed to curl up in. He isn't a huge fan of baths and may need a little boost into the car, but with patience and encouragement, he takes it all in stride.

Rufus will fit beautifully into almost any loving home that's willing to give him a little time to settle in—and once he does, he'll love you forever.

Rufus is currently being fostered in Houston, Texas but can be transported out of state to an approved adopter.
