At approximately two years old, Sterling Scout has already overcome more than most dogs ever should. Rescued from a San Antonio shelter, he was given a second chance at life, and today he's safely waiting just north of Houston for the family who will help him discover just how wonderful life can be.

Scout has the sweetest, most soulful eyes and a quiet, gentle nature. He isn't the kind of dog who rushes into your arms on the first day. Instead, he takes his time, watches the world around him, and slowly learns who he can trust.

And honestly...

There's something incredibly special about being chosen by a dog like Scout.

Every day, caring volunteers spend time helping him build confidence, and every day he grows a little braver. You can almost see him beginning to believe that people can be kind and that a forever family might really exist.

Scout doesn't need someone who's looking for the "perfect" dog.
