Maple Bourbon — lovingly known as Chance — has those soulful amber eyes, a beautiful maple-brown coat, and the kind of big ol head that was practically made for kisses. Add a bow tie and, well... clearly this gentleman is ready for his forever-home era.

Imagine morning walks together, afternoons stretched out on the couch, car rides with that enormous smile, and Maple learning that he never has to wonder where he belongs again.

He isn't looking for perfection.

He's looking for his person. His home. His second chance.
And after everything this boy has already accomplished, we think he's more than ready for it.

HIS STORY

Maple Bourbon's story began when he was found wandering in Livingston, Texas, without anyone to call his own.
Thankfully, a wonderful woman found him and refused to simply look the other way.

When Maple was first rescued, it was apparent that he hadn't had enough socialization with other dogs. Rather than giving up on him, his finder did something extraordinary:

She paid for THREE WEEKS of professional board-and-train.
And Maple Bourbon has been doing GREAT with the other dogs during his training.

That's the part of his story we especially love.

This boy was given an opportunity to learn — and he did.

He was given structure — and he responded.

He was given a chance — and he showed everyone what he could do.
His finder would dearly love to keep him herself. She's fallen in love with him and is heartbroken that she can't. Unfortunately, she already has dogs in her home, including one who is aggressive toward other dogs, so bringing Maple home simply wouldn't be safe.

So now this beautiful boy needs the next person in his story to step forward.

THREE WEEKS OF PROFESSIONAL TRAINING!

One of the wonderful things about adopting Maple is that someone has already made a significant investment in helping him succeed.
He's had three weeks of professional board-and-train, including work around other dogs, and he's made wonderful progress.
Of course, like any dog transitioning into a new home, Maple will need time, consistency, structure and a patient introduction to his new life. His training gives him a terrific foundation — and we'd love to find someone committed to continuing all the good work that's already begun.
Because of his history, we would still want thoughtful introductions with any resident dogs to make sure everyone is comfortable and compatible.
