DESCRIPTION

Dottie is a sweet, outgoing 1.5 year old petite American Bully that weighs 45 lbs. She is full grown and will not get any larger. This happy girl is a perfect blend of silly, spunky, cuddly, and curious. Her foster mom describes her as wiggly, silly, and a true social butterfly. She has a funny and endearing little quirk where she loves to carry around her toys or a Bam Bone in her mouth when she is excited. She will even bring you toys to play with her, and then last second decide that she's going to trot around showing off her toy instead. That perfectly captures her sweet and goofy personality, and makes it impossible not to giggle at how silly she can be. She absolutely loves to be included in whatever her humans are doing and loves to go on fun adventures. Whether that's going on a ride to get a pup cup from Starbucks or joining her humans on fun outdoor adventures like hiking or exploring nature, Dottie is always happy to join. She is the type of dog who just enjoys being by your side. She loves everyone she meets and can't resist sharing her sweet puppy kisses with you within seconds of making your acquaintance. When she really loves you, she will wrap her arms around your waist to hug you. Because of her friendly nature and love of adventure, she would thrive with a family that enjoys including their dog in activities and experiences. Dottie’s dream home would be with a person or family who loves both adventure and relaxation. Se’d love someone who enjoys getting outside, exploring trails, or taking weekend outings, but who also appreciates a loyal dog curled up beside them on the couch for cuddles at the end of the day.

Dottie is medium energy, and is best described as a fun and playful couch potato. She really enjoys a nice balance of playtime and relaxation. She will need longer walks or play time multiple times a day to help her burn some energy, but after that, you can find her curled up on the couch taking a long nap. She loves to go on walks to sniff around and explore, so leisurely walks around the neighborhood or longer walking trails for daily exercise are necessary. Outdoor activities are some of Dottie's favorite things. She would be the perfect pup for someone who enjoys hiking through the mountains or simply hanging out in the backyard playing a good game of tug-o-war when the weather is nice. She really enjoys playing with her doggy friends, but she’s also perfectly content to entertain herself with her favorite toys when her humans are busy. She is very smart and engaged in training activities that involves some yummy treats. She also enjoys activities that give her a bit of mental stimulation, so puzzle games and treat dispensing toys that she can work on to win the main prize, some yummy dog treats, are a necessity in her forever home. She loves to play fetch and would play all day with any toys that squeak. Her future home will have a toy box full of squeaky toys, ropes, and chew toys, and she’d be thrilled to have a BarkBox subscription to keep the fun going with new surprises every month.

Dottie is dog and kid friendly, and could be paired with the right kitty friend in her forever home. She is currently in a foster home with both small and medium sized dogs, and she is polite in her interactions with them. She loves to romp around and play hard with her sister, Bentley, but is more courteous and calm with the older dogs. She does best with a pup that matches her spunky, playful energy level and would love to have another playful dog in her forever home. She would be perfectly fine being the only dog in the home as long as she gets plenty of exercise and playtime with her human each day. Dottie would love to have older kids in the home that she can play fetch and cuddle with. Because she doesn't realize her size and has the happiest wiggle butt when she's excited, she would knock over a young child or toddler who is learning how to walk. so it is not recommended to have young kids in her forever home due to that. She is very loving, sweet, and loves to be cuddled and loved on, so older kids she can share her love and play with are great. She has been around the kitty in her foster home and is interested in smelling it, but respects their personal space. However, when the cat goes outside, it does like to torment her through the window so Dottie does bark at it when that happens. If there is a kitty in the home, it is recommended that it be an indoor-only, dog friendly kitty and slow introductions are a must. Having a separate space for the kitty to acclimate to Dottie is recommended, so baby gates are recommended.

Dottie is kennel trained, potty trained and leash trained. She sleeps in a kennel at night with no fuss, and even enjoys hanging out in there with the door open while she eats a chew bone or plays with her stuffed animals. She would really love to snuggle up in bed with her humans every night so she can get in as many cuddles as possible though. She can be left out of the kennel without being destructive as long as she gets a quick exercise session and has her toys/puzzle games to keep her busy. If she doesn't have anything to chew on or play with, she may help herself to a tennis shoe every now and then. She will happily curl up on the couch to chew on her Bam Bone or work on one of her treat dispensing toys when left alone, and will greet you with a tail wag as soon as you return home. She is potty trained and will not have an accident inside as long as she gets consistent potty breaks and on a good routine. She will alert you when she needs to go outside by standing at the back door. She is leash trained and loves to go on walks. She can get really excited initially and will grab one of her toys or tennis balls on her way out the door to carry with her on her daily walks.

Dottie's ideal home would be one where she can be included in his family’s daily life and get plenty of love, exercise, and attention. She would love to live in a home with a fenced yard to run and play in, but he’d also be perfectly content in an apartment, condo, or townhouse as long as she gets regular walks and playtime. She would thrive in a home with another playful, friendly dog and older kids to run around and play with, but would be completely happy being the "only child" and getting all her humans' love and affection to herself too. No public dog parks for this sweet girl because who wants to risk your pup catching a disease or being bullied on by other random dogs anyways. She would love to have fun adventures at Sniff Spots for playtime and exercise if she does live in an apartment, condo, or townhouse without a private fenced-in yard. Dottie's ideal family would be fun, adventurous, and loving, that enjoys a balance of outdoor adventures and cozy cuddle time, and that will let her be her playful, goofy self and love her unconditionally for it.

*If you are interested in adopting Dottie, please fill out an application at: www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/adoption-application

Dottie is in a foster home in Central Texas. She can be adopted and transported to the following cities/states: https://www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/transport-locations

TRANSPORT: Currently we have monthly transports. It will be up to the adoptive family to meet the transport to pick up your new family member. Please be advised that our dogs are adopted to their forever families prior to being transported. Unfortunately at this time, we cannot bring dogs for a typical meet and greet situation, due to the extensiveness of the transport distance and it being unfair for the dogs who are not adopted to have to make the trip back.

Applications are reviewed in the order that they are received. To ensure we are honoring the dogs that we have committed to helping, we have policies and procedures in place that we follow when reviewing adoption applications. LAPP Dog Rescue is ran 100% by volunteers, so when you submit an application it can take a few days to be reviewed. Submitting an application is not a confirmation that the adoption will be approved/completed. Before submitting the application, please read the FULL description on PetFinder describing the dog's personality, energy level, housing requirements and our policy on meet and greets.

The cost to adopt is $550, which includes $300 adoption fee and a $250 transport fee. The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations, spay procedure, microchip, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, plus any necessary vet care while in the rescue's care. The transport fee covers the transportation from Dottie's foster home to her forever home.
