Bentley is a loving, laid back 1.5 year old petite American Bully that weighs 45 lbs. She is full grown and will not get any larger. The affectionate girl loves nothing more than cuddling and spending time with her humans. Her affectionate nature shines through in everything she does, from her gentle cuddles to the way she’ll look at you with soft, loving eyes, always ready to offer a few sweet puppy kisses. She is a social butterfly that loves every human and dog she meets. She will try to crawl into your lap to get cuddles every chance she gets, and never passes up a chance to sneak in some sweet puppy kisses. She absolutely loves to be included in whatever her humans are doing and is the perfect pup to take on fun outings around town or adventures exploring nature. Whether that's going on a ride to get a pup cup from Starbucks or joining her humans on fun outdoor adventures like hiking or exploring nature, Bentley is always happy to join. She's the best work from home companion because she will happily spend the day curled up on the couch or dog bed while you work. She is easily entertained with her toys and chews, and is just happy to spend as much time with her human without requiring your undivided attention. Her easygoing temperament and adaptable nature make her a wonderful fit for a variety of homes, but she would truly thrive in an environment where she can be included as part of the family’s daily life. Bentley's dream home would be with a person or family that wants a loyal, loving companion that can join them on vacations, weekend outings, and lots of cuddles on the couch. If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate, well-rounded pup who will happily join you in both life’s adventures and its quiet moments, Bentley could be your perfect match.
Bentley is medium energy, and is a perfect mix of active and laid back. She will be perfectly content going on short leisurely walks around the neighborhood and a few short play sessions in the backyard. If you want to go on longer hikes and playing at the beach, she's happy to join too. She matches her human's energy, so if you want to cuddle up on the couch for a movie night, Bentley will be snoozing around right beside you. She loves to explore the outdoors and would be the perfect pup for someone who enjoys hiking through the mountains. She is the best passenger princess and won't pass up the chance to go on fun car rides. She really lights up when she gets to play with her doggy friends, and her favorite games are tug-o-war and fetch. She’s also perfectly content to entertain herself with her favorite toys and chew bones when her humans are busy and the other dogs aren't up for playtime. She is very smart and loves to engage in training activities with her humans. She is very focused on her human and wants to please them so she picks up on training activities with ease. Not to mention, she really loves yummy treats. She also enjoys activities that give her a bit of mental stimulation, so puzzle games and treat dispensing toys that she can work on to win the main prize, some yummy dog treats, are a necessity in her forever home. Her future home will have a toy box full of squeaky toys, ropes, and chew toys, and she’d be thrilled to have a BarkBox subscription to keep the fun going with new surprises every month.
Bentley is dog and kid friendly, and could be paired with the right kitty friend in her forever home. She is currently in a foster home with both small and medium sized dogs, and she is polite in her interactions with them. She has done well at doggy day care playing with different dogs too. After initial introduction sniffs, she starts to dance, hop around and will do the most perfect play bow before initiating a game of chase. She adjusts her play style to whatever dog she's playing with, and takes correction well from other dogs. She does well with dogs of all personalities and energy levels, but she would really love to have another playful dog in her forever home. She would be perfectly fine being the only dog in the home as long as she gets plenty of exercise and playtime with her human each day. Bentley would love to have kids in the home that she can play fetch and cuddle with. She is very sweet and gentle, but can knock over a young child or toddler who is learning how to walk due to her happy wiggle butt. Due to that, it may be best for her to be in a home with kids that are more steady on their feet. She is very loving, sweet, and loves to be cuddled and loved on, so the more people to give her affection, the better. She has been around the kitty in her foster home and is interested in smelling it, but respects their personal space. If there is a kitty in the home, it is recommended that it be an indoor-only, dog friendly kitty and slow introductions are a must. Having a separate space for the kitty to acclimate to Bentley is necessary, so baby gates are recommended.
Bentley is kennel trained, potty trained and leash trained. She sleeps in a kennel at night with no fuss, and even enjoys hanging out in there with the door open while she eats a chew bone or plays with her stuffed animals. She would really love to snuggle up in bed with her humans every night so she can get in as many cuddles as possible though. She can be left out of the kennel without being destructive as long as she gets a quick exercise session and has her toys/puzzle games to keep her busy. If she doesn't have anything to chew on or play with, she may help herself to a tennis shoe every now and then. She will happily curl up on the couch to chew on her Bam Bone or work on one of her treat dispensing toys when left alone, and will greet you with a tail wag as soon as you return home. She is potty trained and will not have an accident inside as long as she gets consistent potty breaks and on a good routine. She will alert you when she needs to go outside by standing at the back door. She is leash trained and loves to go on walks. She does get excited when she sees a dog because she wants to go interact with them, but is easily redirected with a treat or her human reminding her to remain calm.
Bentley's ideal home would be one where she can be included in her family’s daily life and get plenty of love, exercise, and attention. She would love to live in a home with a fenced yard to run and play in, but she’d also be perfectly content in an apartment, condo, or townhouse as long as she gets regular walks and playtime. She would thrive in a home with another playful, friendly dog and some kids to cuddle and play with. She's also the type of dog that can be completely happy being the "only child" and getting all her humans' love and affection to herself too. No public dog parks for this sweet girl because who wants to risk your pup catching a disease or being bullied on by other random dogs anyways. She would love to have fun adventures at Sniff Spots for playtime and exercise if she does live in an apartment, condo, or townhouse without a private fenced-in yard. She would love if her human works from home or works a hybrid schedule, and even would love to go to work with you if you go to a dog-friendly office. If you work out of the home and she is the only dog, she would love to go to doggy day care a few days a week so she can burn energy and play with her doggy friends. Bentley's ideal family would be fun, adventurous, and loving, that enjoys a balance of outdoor adventures and cozy cuddle time.
*If you are interested in adopting Bentley, please fill out an application at: www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/adoption-application
Bentley is in a foster home in Central Texas. She can be adopted and transported to the following cities/states: https://www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/transport-locations
TRANSPORT: Currently we have monthly transports. It will be up to the adoptive family to meet the transport to pick up your new family member. Please be advised that our dogs are adopted to their forever families prior to being transported. Unfortunately at this time, we cannot bring dogs for a typical meet and greet situation, due to the extensiveness of the transport distance and it being unfair for the dogs who are not adopted to have to make the trip back.
Applications are reviewed in the order that they are received. To ensure we are honoring the dogs that we have committed to helping, we have policies and procedures in place that we follow when reviewing adoption applications. LAPP Dog Rescue is ran 100% by volunteers, so when you submit an application it can take a few days to be reviewed. Submitting an application is not a confirmation that the adoption will be approved/completed. Before submitting the application, please read the FULL description on PetFinder describing the dog's personality, energy level, housing requirements and our policy on meet and greets.
The cost to adopt is $550, which includes $300 adoption fee and a $250 transport fee. The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations, spay procedure, microchip, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, plus any necessary vet care while in the rescue's care. The transport fee covers the transportation from Bentley's foster home to her forever home.
