Destin is a silly, sweet 3 month old German Shepherd mix pup that weighs 20 lbs. He is estimated to be around 65-70 lbs when he is fully grown. Destin is the perfect mix of active, cuddly, adventurous, and loving. He is a go-with-the-flow kind of guy that is happy to go along on any outing or adventure with his humans. He is truly the happiest when he's by your side experiencing the world together. He has a spunky, playful personality that makes him the life of the party no matter where he goes or who he meets. He loves playing with toys, doing zoomies around the yard, and showing off his goofy puppy antics that are sure to keep you laughing. His fun-loving spirit is contagious, and he has a wonderful way of brightening everyone's day with his happy energy and sweet demeanor. He is very curious and loves to explore everything around him and is the type of pup that would be perfect for a family that loves the outdoors, exploring nature, splashing around at the river, and going on hiking adventures. After a day of adventures, he's more than happy to curl up next to his favorite humans for some quality cuddle time. This affectionate pup never misses an opportunity to share his sweet puppy kisses and soak up all the love and attention he can get. Whether it's movie night on the couch or a lazy Sunday morning, Destin is always ready to be your snuggle buddy. He's also very self entertaining and will keep himself busy with his toys and chew bones when his humans are busy. He thrives when given opportunities to engage his mind. He is highly food motivated, which makes training both fun and rewarding. Bring out a bag of treats, and you'll have his full attention as he eagerly works to learn new commands, tricks, and skills. He loves meeting new people, and would benefit from having more exposure to socialization in public spaces so he can join you on more activities as he gets older. With consistent guidance and positive experiences, he has all the potential to grow into a well-rounded, social, and loyal family dog that can go to sporting events, play dates with friends, and visiting family on vacations. Destin would thrive with an active family that enjoys spending time outdoors but also appreciates quiet moments at home. He is the perfect combination of adventurous explorer, playful best friend, and affectionate cuddle bug. If you're looking for a smart, loving puppy who will happily join you on every adventure and then snuggle up beside you at the end of the day, Destin is your perfect match.

Destin is medium energy, but is pretty laid back as soon as he burns his puppy energy. He loves running around in the backyard and playtime with the resident dog in his foster home. His favorite activities at home are tug-o-war, fetch, and swimming in his puppy pool. As he gets older, he would love to go on longer walks on nature trails and hikes. If you want to go on longer hikes and playing at the beach, he will be happy to join too. He also enjoys activities that give him a bit of mental stimulation, so puzzle games, snuffle mats and treat dispensing toys that he can work on when his humans are busy are great ways to keep him entertained. His ideal home will have a toy box full of squeaky toys, ropes, and chew toys, and hed be thrilled to have a BarkBox subscription to keep the fun going with new surprises every month, especially now that he is starting to teeth. He would really enjoy a life that offers him a nice balance of activity and relaxation.

Destin is dog, cat, and kid friendly. He is currently in a foster home with a larger dogs and has met multiple dogs of different sizes and ages. He loves other furry friends and would love to have another playful dog in his forever home. He would be perfectly fine being the only dog in the home, but he would benefit from having frequent play dates with other dogs as he grows up so she continues learning proper doggy communication skills and play etiquette. He would do best in a home with another dog that is friendly and playful as he is a puppy, and an older dog who isn't used to puppy energy and silly antics may not appreciate having a young little fur-brother around. If there are no other dogs in the home, he would love to go to doggy day care a couple times a week so he continues having positive interactions with other dogs as he grows up. Destin would do well with kids of all ages and would love to have kids in the home that he can play and cuddle with. He may trip a young child or toddler who is learning how to walk because he can walk so close to your feet and may try to play with your shoes as you're walking, so it is recommended that he be in a home with older kids who are more steady on their feet. He is very playful, sweet, and loves to be cuddled and loved on, so if there are older kids in the home to play with and give him affection, he's going to be a happy boy. Because of his young age and how easily adaptable he is, he would be able to join a family that has a cat in the home. Since he is a puppy, he would do best with dog-friendly cats that have lived with dogs before as he is a puppy and may want to play with them. He is starting to teeth, so his humans will need to keep a watchful eye on him to make sure he doesn't chew on human kid toys or shoes laying around.

Destin is kennel trained and potty trained, and is currently working on leash training. He sleeps in a kennel at night with no fuss, but he does need a treat initially to go inside. Once he's inside, he eats his treat and then curls up for bed. He also likes to take a few of his toys to bed with him so he can snuggle and chew on them if he happens to wake up in the night. He is excelling at potty training and will alert you if he needs to go outside to potty. His cues to go outside are he will pace at the back door, and if you don't notice him, then he will give you a little bark to let you know he really needs to go. He can hold it throughout the night without needing a potty break, but will need potty breaks every 4-5 hours during the day. When he gets older, he would really love to snuggle up in bed with his humans every night so he can get in as many cuddles as possible. He will need additional practice to perfect his leash walking skills in his forever home.

Destin's ideal home would be one where he can be included in her familys daily life and get plenty of love, exercise, and attention. He would love to live in a home with a fenced yard to run and play in, but hed also be perfectly content in an apartment, condo, or townhouse as long as she gets frequent walks and playtime each day. He would thrive in a home with another friendly dog and some kids to cuddle and play with. He's also the type of dog that can be completely happy being the "only child" and getting all his humans' love and affection to himself too. No public dog parks for this sweet boy because who wants to risk your pup catching a disease or being bullied on by other random dogs anyways. He would love to have fun adventures at Sniff Spots for playtime and exercise when he gets older if he does live in an apartment, condo, or townhouse without a private fenced-in yard. He also would love to have an active family that loves the outdoors and will take him on fun adventures like hiking, swimming, and exploring nature. He would love if his human works from home or works a hybrid schedule, but if you work out of the home and he is the only dog, he would benefit from going to doggy day care a few days a week so he can continue socializing with other dogs as he gets older. With his playful, fun-loving nature, Destin would be a wonderful fit for a variety of families. Whether you're looking for a playful pup to join in on your adventures, or a laid-back companion to keep you company at home, Destin is happy to join you on whatever life adventure you take him on.

Destin is in a foster home in South Texas. He can be adopted and transported to the following cities/states: www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/transport-locations

TRANSPORT: Currently we have monthly transports. It will be up to the adoptive family to meet the transport to pick up your new family member. Please be advised that our dogs are adopted to their forever families prior to being transported. Unfortunately at this time, we cannot bring dogs for a typical meet and greet situation, due to the extensiveness of the transport distance.

Applications are reviewed in the order that they are received. To ensure we are honoring the dogs that we have committed to helping, we have policies and procedures in place that we follow when reviewing adoption applications. LAPP Dog Rescue is ran 100% by volunteers, so when you submit an application it can take a few days to be reviewed. Submitting an application is not a confirmation that the adoption will be approved. Before submitting the application, please read the FULL bio describing the dog's personality, energy level, housing requirements and our policy on meet and greets.

The cost to adopt is $850, which includes $400 adoption fee, a $250 transport fee, and a $200 REFUNDABLE neuter deposit. The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, plus any necessary vet care while in the rescue's care. The $200 refundable neuter deposit will be paid directly to the adopter's vet once he is old enough to undergo the procedure. The transport fee covers the transportation from Destin's foster home to his forever home.
