I don't follow the pack, and I was born to make my own trail... The name's Maverick, and at almost 2 years old, I'm 71 pounds of muscle, personality, and just a little bit of mischief. I don't believe every rule was written for me, and I'll admit I've been known to make up a few of my own. Life is more fun that way! I'm a one-of-a-kind guy with just about every temperament rolled into one. I can be playful, goofy, stubborn, affectionate, laid-back, and full of energy, all in the same day. One thing you'll never call me is boring! I'm learning my house manners, crate manners, and leash manners, and I'm making progress every day. I'm very treat motivated, so I've discovered that learning can actually be pretty rewarding. I'll do best with a patient adopter who understands that I'm still growing up and is willing to continue my training. If you put in the time, I promise I'll put in the effort. I get along well with other dogs and older kids, and I absolutely love having a canine buddy to wrestle and play with. Stuffed toys are my favorite treasure, and you'll often find me proudly carrying one around in my mouth. I also need plenty of sturdy chew toys because I can get a little mouthy, especially when I'm excited. I'm happiest when my people are nearby. I don't enjoy being separated from my family, and I'll let everyone know it by barking until we're reunited. At bedtime, though, I'm a crate superstar. I settle in beautifully and sleep quietly through the night. Around the house, I'm surprisingly laid-back. As long as I'm close to my favorite humans, I'm perfectly content to stretch out for a long nap. Of course, if I spot a squirrel on a walk, all bets are off! I might pull a little to investigate, but I'm easy to redirect and quickly remember my manners. A privacy-fenced yard is best for me and I love having a safe place to stretch my legs. Oh, and one more thing...if you leave food on the counter, I'll consider it a personal invitation. Keeping snacks out of reach is one of the easiest ways to help me succeed. I need a family committed to training so I can become a great companion! Blaze the trail with me, and I promise it'll be an adventure worth taking.
