A story of resilience. . . from survival to glowing with happiness. . . Meet Ember, the beautiful black lab mix girl who was rescued just before the severe spring cold snap. When she first arrived at her foster home, her foster family picked ticks, bathed her, fed her, picked more ticks, then made her a soft, cozy bed, where she slept. . . hard, for a very long time.
There was something so quiet and still about her. A depth in her eyes that seemed to be searching. Then, slowly... the quiet, still girl began to change. She came to life. Here name had to be Ember. . . she was almost out, but safety, nourishment, and love stoked her fire to thrive.
Now, at 2-years-old, and 59-pounds, she is full of warmth and light. She's a happy girl who is truly grateful for a home, a bowl at dinner time, and affection. She glows with happiness and her foster family is also grateful, just to part of her story. Maybe because she's so eager to please, she learned 'sit', 'come', 'stay' and 'crate, in no time.
Ember is good with other dogs, as well as cats, and she would love to have a kind canine sibling in her forever home. She's completely house trained and comfortable in her kennel. She had surgery on her hip to repair an injury she sustained while trying to survive. Although she's healed, and in no pain, she may aways favor that leg. She also had dental surgery, removing some damaged front teeth.
Through all that life has thrown Ember, she still does tiny front leg jumps and taps her toes when she's excited. She just needs her very own forever family to complete her story. She loves playing, chilling, butt scratches and quiet walks. Her forever family should have a fenced yard and the time, and dedication to improving her leash skills and ensuring she feels safe and loved.
