**NOTE: All AVA kittens under 12 months of age MUST be adopted in pairs or to a home with another young cat. AVA does not accept applications for single kittens**
***Herbie, Horton and Holiday were born to a stray mommacat and thankfully, rescued before they, too, became yet another statistic to add to a growing colony. Herbie must have a friendly and chill cat buddy or two in his new home to help him adjust to the comforts of indoor living.
Of the mini panther trio, Herbie is the most shy of the bunch and is still adapting to human touch and any noises. He feels the safest when he is tucked into a small space and pretends to be invisible because the new world is still scary to navigate openly; but with the lead of Horton the explorer, Herbie is definitely becoming more curious. He would do so much better with guidance and leadership from other friendly, calm and accepting cats. Since Horton is bonded with their sister Holiday, unless all three mini panthers can go home together, Herbie will definitely need a nice kitty or two in his new home to continue to flourish.
Although Herbie is still hesitant about interacting with people in the room and keeps his distance for the moment, he does love a good window seat where he can watch the birds and squirrels pass by. He has a good appetite for wet food and Churus, and that may be an in to his heart given sufficient time and repetition.
Timid and skittish kittens do not stay that way if patience, love and yummy treats are given daily to wear down their instinctive guards. Herbie is seeking an understanding family willing to wait for him to settle down first, then slowly bring him out to the light. When that day comes, we can all celebrate!
Would you like to make Herbie a part of your family? Please complete our online application found at: https://www.avacats.org/adoption-application-form.
Our adoption fees cover vetting and include spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccines (initial FVRCP and rabies), flea treatment, two dewormings and microchipping.
Adoption fees are $275 for each kitten up to 12 months old. Please note that fees may apply for additional required vaccinations (at $75 per booster) due prior to adoption. Total adoption fees will be confirmed by the AVA Adoption Coordinator.
All AVA kittens 12 months or younger must be adopted in pairs or go to a home with another young cat (3 years or younger). Kittens learn from each other how to behave, which helps them turn into well-adjusted adult cats. In general, paired cats have happier and healthier lives because they have a constant companion and playmate. Plus, it's twice the fun for you, and half the work!
