Luna was originally rescued as a stray three years ago by her current family; unfortunately they are moving and can no longer continue to care for her.
This beautiful, petite girl has a calm personality that is evident from her large, expressive eyes. Luna seems to be equal parts smart, chatty, shy, and quirky. She has not a mean bone in her little body, and when she feels uncomfortable, she literally tells you with unmistakable and firm meows. She’s quite the talker and will happily let out short ‘bup’ meows as she explores and headbutts you and various things in her travels.
Luna is mid-energy, with typical zoomies, but spends much of her time resting and prefers to sit near her chosen family members, with whom she will form a tight bond. She is affectionate on her own terms But when she does mark you as her own, she loves to give fullbody rubs and bunts you when she wants pets, sometimes even toppling over in her eagerness to be stroked. She is smart, and seems to understand how doors and closets work and is curious about her surroundings. She sleeps through the night, and may sleep on the bed or nearby.
Luna enjoys playing with squishy toys and the laser pointer, and is a massive fan of catnip and likes to roll around in it. She uses both vertical post and horizontal cardboard scratchers, though she may occasionally scratch furniture so will need some alternative choices and redirection. She likes being brushed and tolerates nail trims with gentle handling and breaks; food distraction helps, and also tolerates the cat carrier. Her litter box usage is tidy and she is very good at covering her poops. She also surprisingly barely sheds fur.
Luna only eats wet food (at least twice a day) as she has not been interested in dry food after exploring a variety of options.
She would be a good fit for a quiet, low-stress and patient home that allows her to settle in at her own pace. She is still sensitive to noises and may hide briefly, but it is obvious that her confidence is building in her desire to explore the noise rather than hide from it. She has not been exposed to dogs but may be good with another cat, as she seems curious and eager to make the acquaintance of the resident male kitty when she glimpsed him through an open door. Luna is good around calm children who can respect her signals.
