DESCRIPTION

Meet Penny!

This senior lady is looking for a quiet and patient home with people who appreciate her sensitive nature as a "spirit cat" who needs patience and understanding. She has a history of shining and being her best self (affectionate, sweet, expressive) in a predictable home, with a trusted and loved human. Her social battery is overwhelmed quickly with people or pets outside of her trusted circle, or who may disturb the peace she craves.

Penny came into our care when her previous home dynamic changed. The new humans and pets caused her a lot of stress and it became evident that a new situation would offer her a chance at a fresh start. She may struggle with coping with new stressors, but really who can blame her? In order to help her feel as comfortable as possible through these transitions, she is settling into a foster home while she waits for just the right fit in an adoptive home. We will continue to learn more about her in an environment better suited to her current needs....but maybe she won't have to wait too long?

Do you have a peaceful and calm home where she can predict your schedule and expect her household routines to stay the same? Do you have patience and understanding to discover the dynamic that works for you both, since no two humans and no two cats are exactly alike? (think compromising on TV volume during movie night, monthly catnip allowance, daily treat/food allotment, naptime vs. playtime schedules, litter box inspections).

Cats: Penny has previously lived with other cats, but may prefer to be the only cat in a new home depending on age/energy/personality match, adhering to a slow introduction, and household set-up/routine
Dogs: Penny has previously displayed stress behaviors related to living with dogs and is looking for a home without dogs.
Children: Penny has previously displayed stress behaviors related to living with active, loud children and may be best suited to a home with adults only or possibly older, quiet and respectful children.

Penny is available from an HSCC foster home. Visit our Adoption Center to inquire about meeting your potential new best friend! Please visit the Adopt section of our website for details on the adoption process. We look forward to seeing you soon!
