Meet Hennessy!

This sensitive fellow tends toward the "please don't perceive me" vibes when he's nervous. While you might not get a full sense of his personality on first meeting or when you first bring him home, you will be able to have the special experience of building trust over time and watching him blossom once he feels safe with his new family.

Hennessy came into our care due to allergies in the previous home. As a sensitive guy that appreciates consistency, he is really looking forward to getting adopted into a home that appreciates his independent streak and respects his personal boundaries.

Despite sometimes wanting his alone time, it will be important to set up the environment to not force him to isolate himself long-term in order to have privacy and a sense of safety. After a period of time settling in, it will be important to encourage his comfort moving around the home and to maximize his ability to explore and build confidence in his new territory. Things like cat shelves added to the walls can be a wonderful addition to your decor. Additionally, cat trees and other elevated surfaces increase the living space available for a cat -typically helping them feel more confident by being off the floor. Since he did previously spend a lot of time outside, making sure to provide ample indoor enrichment will be essential to him being able to exhibit healthy cat behavior indoors, such as playing, climbing and scratching.

Cats: Hennessy has previously lived with cats and did not seem to enjoy their company. Consideration of other cats in an adoptive home would depend on sex, personality match and household set-up.
Dogs: Hennessy has previously displayed stress behaviors related to living with dogs. Hennessy is looking for a home without dogs.
Children: Hennessy has previously displayed stress behaviors related to living with children. He is looking for a home with adults only, or possibly with older, respectful children who will respect his space.
