Meet Melo!

Melo is looking for a soft couch, a steady routine, and someone to spend her golden years beside. She came to us after her guardian's lifestyle changed, and this sweet senior hound has quickly become a staff favorite. Easygoing, affectionate, and endlessly lovable, Melo is happiest curled up near her people with a cozy blanket and a few good scratches.

She greets her favorite humans with full-body wiggles, tail wagging the whole time, simply content to be close by. When she arrived, she was overweight and uncomfortable, and we've since learned she has hypothyroidism and arthritis. The good news is that she's already feeling much better with treatment! She's now on thyroid and anti-inflammatory medications and the improvement has been wonderful to see. Her future family will need to stay committed to her medical care needs, and a few short walks each day to keep her joints moving comfortably.

A few things to know about Melo: she's a hound through and through, which means she can be delightfully opinionated and yes, sometimes vocal about it. She warms up quickly with patient introductions and a few tasty snacks. While she's no longer interested in sprinting around the yard, she's more than happy to stroll alongside you and then settle in for a nap afterward. Melo would do best as the only animal in the home, where she can soak up all the love and attention for herself. If you've been hoping for a soulful, snuggly senior companion to share quiet and cozy days with, Melo is ready to be your new best friend.
