Picante has closed the chapter on his career as a stray and is now seeking a permanent position as a pampered house cat in a safe, loving furrever home. Picante is 5–7 years old and came to us by accident when a trap set for another cat caught him instead. He arrived scared and defensive, often hiding and hissing when approached. Slowly, Picante is starting to see that people aren't so scary and that indoor living has its perks, like soft beds and regular meals. Day by day, his defences are softening, and his sweet, friendly purrsonality is starting to peek through. Picante isn’t quite ready for pets just yet, but he is starting to come up to say hello and is more comfortable sharing his space with people. With time and the right home, we often see shy cats like Picante, who aren’t yet comfortable with touch, blossom into incredibly loving, affectionate companions.
Picante will need a calm, adult-only home with adopters who will gently encourage a connection with him while also respecting his boundaries. He is relaxed around his shelter pals and may enjoy the company of another easygoing cat, though he would also be just as happy on his own. He is in good health and uses his litter box like a champ. Picante is searching for a special kind of home—one that understands that love doesn’t always come in the loudest form. For now, he’s happy to keep you company from nearby, offering a calm, comforting presence that makes any home feel a little brighter.
