Meet Merle – A Purrfectly Wonderful Tabby with a Heart of Gold!
Merle is a handsome two-year-old tabby boy who radiates happy energy everywhere he goes. He's friendly, cheerful, affectionate, and seemingly has an endless supply of purrs to share!
Merle came into a Southwest Virginia shelter as a stray, but we're pretty sure he wasn't meant to be on his own for long. He's simply too sweet not to have been someone's beloved companion. From the moment you meet him, Merle makes it clear that he loves people and is thrilled whenever someone stops by to give him attention.
This boy is a total sweetheart. He loves curling up in your lap, getting pets, and soaking up all the affection you can give him. His motor starts almost immediately, and his nonstop purring is guaranteed to make you smile.
When he's not cuddling, Merle is ready to play! He enjoys all kinds of toys and is always happy to have some fun. He also has an appreciation for the finer things in life—especially wet food! Mealtime is definitely one of his favorite events of the day.
Merle is also good with other cats, so he could happily share his home with a friendly feline companion.
If you're looking for a cat who is affectionate, playful, social, and just genuinely lovely to be around, Merle is your guy. He has so much love to give and is ready to trade his shelter life for a warm home, a soft lap, and a family of his own.
Merle is ready to purr his way straight into your heart!

You can save animals like this one by becoming a foster! Fosters are like bridges between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save cats and dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters. If you are interested in becoming a foster, please visit: https://fancycats.org/volunteer
