Hi, my name is Sparrow! I'm a RED pawprint, which means I need an experienced home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:
-Personality: Reserved, talkative, and affectionate.
-Can Live with Cats: Likely okay, but may prefer to be the "only child". Sparrow previously lived with other cats, but was tolerating them, more than enjoying their companionship.
-Can Live with Dogs: Likely okay, but may prefer to be the "only child". Sparrow previously lived with smaller dogs, but was tolerating them, more than enjoying their companionship. Loud or boisterous dogs will likely be too much for Sparrow.
-Can Live with Kids: No, Sparrow would likely do best in an adult-only, low-traffic home.
-Needs Indoor Only Home: Yes, Sparrow has no experience outdoors.
-History of Litter Box Issues: No.
-Energy Level: Moderate.
-Bite History: No.
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Yes, a spay and microchip provided by WHS.
Additional Information:
Sparrow is looking for a quiet, patient, and predictable home to call her own after being through four homes in her young life. Understandably, this chaos has left her nervous and prone to overstimulation when she experiences changed in her environment. A cat-savvy adopter who recognizes these signals and knows when to give her space, and when to give her comfort, will likely help build confidence in her surroundings. She is constantly seeking out security in hiding spots and has destroyed furniture and carpets in the past trying to sooth herself. Her previous owner noted that she may struggle with undiagnosed PICA - so her new family will need to provide a safe environment, free of chewable non-food items and safe alternatives. Sparrow needs a low-traffic, adult-only home - potentially one as the sole pet! With consistent routine and a committed human, Sparrow will show you just how affectionate she can really be.
If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
