Ma - Domestic Short Hair Cat for Adoption in Bellingham, Washington

Hi, my name is Ma! I'm a RED pawprint, which means I need an experienced home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:
-Personality: Under-socialized, very skittish, sweet at heart
-Can Live with Cats: Unknown history. Likely OK with slow and structured intros, or could stay with one of her kits!
-Can Live with Dogs: Unknown history. Unlikely to do well with dogs. Up to counselor discretion
-Can Live with Kids: Unknown history. Likely OK with teens and older, cat-experienced highly recommended
-Needs Indoor Only Home: Not strictly required but always recommended for her safety.
-History of Litter Box Issues: A couple accidents (amongst the whole family) but overall she clearly gets the concept. Unlikely to struggle if box cleaned frequently (daily).
-Energy Level: Medium
-Bite History: No
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Yes, a spay

Ma is a sweet momma cat who has had a pretty hard time adjusting to the shelter environment. She appears to be under-socialized with people, and gets very skittish whenever we try to interact. Nevertheless, she's been very tolerant of all our care and cleaning. A calm, predicable home is probably just what Ma needs to open up and show her true personality. An adopter who is patient and experienced with body language would be super helpful; she often purrs to self-sooth, so reading into the more subtle cues is crucial in better gauging her comfort!

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
