Thor is a sweet boy who came from a terrible puppy mill case and is now getting his first real opportunity to experience life outside of that environment. Like the other dogs from this case, Thor spent much of his life with extremely limited socialization and exposure to normal everyday life. When he first arrived, he was understandably fearful and unsure of people and his surroundings. Thankfully, he has started to gain confidence and is showing us more of his personality as he realizes that he is safe.
Thor is dog friendly and seems to benefit from having other dogs around. He is continuing to learn how to navigate new experiences and will need someone willing to patiently guide him as he adjusts to life in a home.
We do need to be very transparent about Thor's history. He has now been returned multiple times due to biting, and he has broken skin. His bites have happened while he is still learning how to adjust to a life with people and unfamiliar situations. Because of this, Thor needs an adopter who understands that he is a dog who will require patience, management, and continued work. He is not a dog we want to see returned again, so his next home needs to be prepared for the commitment involved in helping him succeed.
Thor is not potty trained and will need continued training and consistency. Normal household life may still be overwhelming for him at first, and like the other puppy mill dogs, he will be a significant flight risk while settling into a new home. Secure doors, gates, fencing, and careful leash handling will be extremely important.
Thor would do best in a home without children. He needs a calm environment where he can continue building confidence without being overwhelmed.
Thor has already come a long way, and watching him become more confident has been incredibly rewarding. He deserves someone who understands that his progress will take time and is willing to give him the patience, structure, security, and continued training he needs to finally become the dog he was always meant to be.
