Meet Balto! This playful, energetic, curious 5-month-old, 20-pound puppy is moderate-to-high energy and thoroughly people-oriented — amazing with everyone he meets and generally handling new situations like a champ (with car rides being the one exception he's still working through). He's good with other dogs once he warms up, though he starts a bit skeptical around larger breeds before settling into his usual friendly self. He's crate trained and does wonderfully with alone time (no crying at all), gets excited and playful when guests arrive, and walks and hikes beautifully on leash. He knows "sit", and is very treat-motivated for learning new commands.

Balto's days are full of puppy energy: walks, hikes, chewing on bones (he's teething, so this is essential), playtime with his foster's resident dog, and plenty of people time, since socialization matters a lot to him. Balto would do well as an only dog or with a companion, fits apartment living as long as his exercise needs are met, and would thrive in an active-to-moderate household with an adopter ready to invest real time in his training. His foster describes him as a smart, fast learner with an incredibly loving, energetic spirit — the perfect adventure buddy for someone who wants a hiking and walking companion and is ready to help this great puppy become his very best self.
